Yankee Candle’s 2026 advent calendars are on sale, and this year they have company. Aldi has just confirmed that its £24.99 candle advent calendar lands in stores on Sunday 25 October, and it is comparing it directly with Yankee’s. The Yankee range runs from the 24 Days of Fragrance Advent Calendar at £34.99 to the £99.99 Collector’s Edition Tree, with the £59.99 Fragrance Lovers calendar in between. All three were in stock on Yankee Candle’s UK website on 18 October.

24 Days of Fragrance: the classic tea light calendar, £34.99
The entry-level calendar holds 24 scented tea lights, each in a different fragrance, plus a glass tea light holder. The line-up mixes festive scents such as Christmas Cookie, Shimmering Christmas Tree, Sparkling Cinnamon and Christmas Eve with year-round favourites like Pink Sands, Clean Cotton, Soft Blanket and Black Cherry.
At £34.99, that is about £1.46 a tea light. Gift retailer Funky Hampers also had the 24 Days of Fragrance calendar in stock at £29.50 on 18 October.
Fragrance Lovers: 24 mini votives in a keepsake box, £59.99
The Fragrance Lovers Advent Calendar swaps tea lights for 24 Mini Filled Votives in glass, two of each of 12 scents: Shimmering Christmas Tree, Christmas Cookie, Sparkling Cinnamon, Lemon Lavender, Sage & Citrus, Christmas Eve, MidSummer’s Night, Red Apple Wreath, White Spruce & Grapefruit, Amber & Sandalwood, Bayside Cedar and Spiced Pumpkin.
The box opens like a book, and one reviewer on Yankee’s site notes that the insert lifts out, leaving a sturdy storage box once December is over. Not everyone is convinced by the scent choice, though: another reviewer felt everyday scents such as Lemon Lavender and MidSummer’s Night have no place in an advent calendar. This is the calendar Aldi picks as its point of comparison.
Collector’s Edition Tree: the £99.99 showpiece
The Collector’s Edition Tree Advent Calendar is shaped like a stack of tree boxes, topped with a 2026 star. Inside, according to Yankee Candle:
- 4 Signature Small Jar Candles: Shimmering Christmas Tree, Christmas Cookie, Sparkling Cinnamon and Vanilla Crème Brûlée.
- 8 Mini Filled Votives, including Red Apple Wreath, Amber & Sandalwood and Spiced Pumpkin.
- 9 Scented Tea Light Candles, including Balsam & Cedar Fireside, Warm Cashmere and Silver Sage & Pine.
- A glass tea light holder, a candle snuffer, a wick trimmer and a special-edition bauble.
The four small jars make this the only Yankee calendar with proper candles you can keep burning after Christmas.
Aldi’s £24.99 candle calendar: the cheaper alternative
Aldi announced on 17 October that its candle advent calendar returns at £24.99, in stores from Sunday 25 October. It holds 25 mini candles of 50g each, with up to eight hours of burn time per candle, in a gingerbread house box inspired by the nostalgic Christmas trend. Scents include Warm Gingerbread, Hot Cocoa, Frosted Fir, White Christmas, Cinnamon Spice and Iced Berries. At around £1 a candle, it costs less than half the price of the Yankee Fragrance Lovers calendar.

Our verdict
For pure value, Aldi wins: 25 candles of 50g for £24.99, against 24 tea lights for £34.99 at Yankee. But Yankee’s scents are a known quantity, and you can order from home today rather than queue on 25 October. The 24 Days of Fragrance is the sensible pick, the Fragrance Lovers calendar the prettiest to keep, and the Tree a splurge for true Yankee fans who will use the jars well into the new year.
