We Are Regular

  • Daily gut health sticks for bowel and bloat relief
  • From £40.5

We Are Regular is a London gut health brand with one hero product, 01. Bowel + Bloat Relief, a Wild Berry flavoured powder that comes in single-serve sticks. You tear one open, stir it into 300ml of water or juice and drink it once a day. It is aimed at women who struggle with constipation and bloating, and it is sold as a food supplement rather than a medicine. A 28-stick pouch costs £45 as a one-off, or £40.50 every 28 days on subscription, which works out at about £1.45 a day. There is also a £15 starter pack of seven sticks. It is nicely made and honestly marketed in places, but the evidence behind it is thin and the return rules are strict, so read our verdict before you subscribe. Our news story on We Are Regular covers the founders, the Boots listing and the brand’s trial figures.

What is in a We Are Regular stick

Each stick holds about 8.4g of powder and the brand lists 10 ingredients: magnesium citrate, L-glutamine, ginger extract, peppermint leaf extract, barley grass powder, amla fruit extract, acerola, rosehip extract, grapeseed extract and a vitamin C blend. The vitamin C comes from sodium, magnesium and calcium ascorbate plus the fruit extracts, and the brand’s FAQ puts it at 1,000mg. The flavour comes from natural blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry flavours and the sweetener is stevia. It is vegan, gluten free and made without nut ingredients, although the brand says it is made on a site that handles nuts.

Take one stick a day, ideally in the morning about 30 minutes before your first meal. If your gut is sensitive, the brand says many people start with half a stick in extra water and build up. The brand also describes magnesium citrate as an ingredient that draws water into the bowel, so loose stools or cramping are a possibility if you take more than your gut likes. We could not find the amounts of the other nine ingredients on the pages we read, which makes the formula hard to compare with other products.

What the evidence shows

The brand’s headline figures come from its own customer trial. The product page and the brand story say that in a one-week trial of 25 women, 79% had a satisfying poo within 24 hours, 100% said their stools were soft and easy to pass by day 7, and 67% felt notably less bloated by day 7. The home page gives the same 79% and 100% figures but says they come from a trial with 50 women, and adds that 78% reported improved bowel movements and that 100% of 24 respondents who had tried other gut supplements found this more effective. The brand’s own pages therefore disagree about the size of the trial. Either way these are small, self-reported results with no control group described, and we have not seen them published or peer reviewed.

The wording the brand backs with authorised claims is modest: peppermint extract helps reduce digestive discomfort, ginger supports healthy digestion, magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system. The site also describes longer-term benefits for sleep, skin and mood, but we have not repeated them because it does not support them with data. The brand says the product is not a stimulant laxative and is not habit forming. We cannot verify that.

Who it is not for

This is a food supplement, not a medicine. The brand says it is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and that you should speak to a doctor or healthcare professional first if you take medication or are under medical supervision. Supplements are no substitute for a varied diet. The NHS advises speaking to a pharmacist if diet and lifestyle changes are not helping constipation, and seeing a GP if you are regularly constipated or bloated, or if you notice blood in your poo or unexplained weight loss. A supplement should not stand in for that check.

About We Are Regular

We Are Regular was founded by Holly Brooke, formerly commercial director at Skin Rocks, and Joely Walker Sanderson, formerly Head of Beauty at Grazia. The brand says it spent 18 months on the formula, and that Holly once took about 30 supplements a day at a cost of around £300 a month before the two combined the ingredients into one stick. Press reports say it sold out within seven weeks of launch, which is the founders’ own figure. It is now also stocked at Boots, in select stores and online, and the brand says it won Best New Beauty Supplement at the CEW UK Beauty Awards.

Delivery, cancelling and returns

We Are Regular delivers to UK addresses only, by Royal Mail Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, and says orders typically take 2 to 4 days. Subscriptions renew every 28 days from the day you sign up. In the subscription portal you can skip, pause, delay or change the frequency of deliveries, update your payment details and cancel in seconds. The site shows no minimum term and no notice period.

The rules after you pay are strict. The brand cannot cancel an order once it has been placed, the one-off pouch is marked as final sale, and it does not accept change-of-mind returns or give refunds on opened or used products. If an order arrives damaged or faulty, it will refund or swap it. The shipping page says to tell the brand within 21 days, but the same page and its terms also say to email within 7 days of receiving the order, so allow 7. That is a tougher stance than some rivals, including Liv100, which offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on a first order.

Is We Are Regular worth it?

Our honest view: the price is fair for something this convenient and well presented, but the case for it rests on the brand’s own small trial. At £45 a pouch, or £40.50 on subscription, you are paying for the single stick, the flavour and the brand as much as for the ingredients, most of whose amounts are not published. A plain magnesium supplement or a fibre product from a pharmacy usually costs a fraction of that, and the first thing the NHS suggests for constipation is fibre, fluids and exercise. If you want a ready-mixed, once-a-day habit and you are happy to pay for it, this is one of the better-designed products of its kind.

Our advice is to start with the £15 starter pack, which gives you a week to see how your gut reacts and costs far less than committing to a full pouch that you cannot return. Only subscribe once you know it suits you, and remember the 10% saving and free shipping matter less than being able to skip or cancel in the portal.

  • The evidence is a small, self-reported brand trial, and the brand’s pages disagree on its size
  • Most ingredient amounts are not published on the pages we read
  • Final sale: no refund if you change your mind, even on a first order
  • Not suitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding, and you should check with a doctor if you take medication
