ESPA is a spa brand first, with treatments in spas across the UK and abroad, and its calendar leans into that: alongside cleansers, serums and creams, you get bath oils, a candle, silk accessories and a rose quartz gua sha. The cream box opens like a cabinet of small drawers tied with a ribbon. ESPA builds its formulas on what it calls Tri-Active Formulation, a mix of plant actives, marine actives and aromatherapy.

One change to note before you buy: the Pomelo Lip Balm replaces the Tri-Active Lift & Firm Eye Moisturiser 15ml printed on the packaging, which ESPA says is temporarily unavailable. The brand states that the £624 worth already reflects the swap.
The standout products
The headline is the Optimal Skin Pro-Serum, ESPA’s best-selling serum, here in a 30ml size. Next to it, the Tri-Active Regenerating Bio-Retinol Sleeping Serum 30ml is the one to watch if you want a gentler night-time alternative to retinol; it is also sold on its own at LOOKFANTASTIC. The three 100ml body products (shower gel, body butter and body polish) give the calendar real weight after December, and the gua sha and silk eye mask are the kind of extras you keep using.
What we think
At £190 for 25 drawers, you pay £7.60 a day, and ESPA’s own figures put the contents at more than three times the price. As always, treat the stated worth as the brand’s own claim: it only counts if you would have bought these products at full price. ESPA does not say which nine products are full size, but the 100ml body formulas and the accessories make it clear this is not a box of tiny sachets.
It will suit you if you love a slow evening routine: bath oils, a candle, a mask and a massage tool cover the wellbeing side better than most beauty calendars. If instead you want big make-up names or fragrance, it is the wrong calendar.
