Clean People

Clean People makes laundry detergent sheets: thin, dry strips that replace liquid detergent and its plastic jug. You drop one sheet in the drum per medium load and the subscription posts a fresh box on the schedule you choose. It is a North American brand, made in the United States and Canada, but it ships to the UK with free delivery and shows UK prices in pounds, from £11.70 for 32 loads. It is a genuinely convenient product. Whether it is the best laundry sheet subscription for a UK household is a different question, and we answer it below.

Clean People price and plans

These are the subscription prices shown on the Clean People product page for UK shoppers, with delivery free to the UK. Subscribers get a discount on the first order and on every renewal compared with a one-off purchase. You choose the frequency, from monthly to every two months or longer, and you can change it at any time. One point to watch: the brand’s terms say all transactions are processed in US dollars, so depending on your card, your bank may convert the charge and add a foreign transaction fee.

How the Clean People subscription works

Pick a scent and a box size, then a delivery frequency. Clean People emails a renewal reminder seven days before each bill date, and once you are billed the order ships within 72 hours. Outside the United States, orders take five to twelve business days to arrive. From the My Subscription page you can change the frequency, switch scent, add products such as dryer sheets or wool dryer balls, or skip a shipment. To cancel, log in or email the brand at least five days before your next billing date; a later cancellation only takes effect from the following billing period.

What makes Clean People different

• No measuring. One sheet for a medium load, half a sheet for a small one, two for a large or heavily soiled load. Clean People says the sheets work in all machines and for hand washing.
• A short ingredient list. The brand says its sheets contain no 1,4 dioxane, SLS, SLES, optical brighteners, parabens, phosphates, synthetic dyes or chlorine, and that they are hypoallergenic, vegan and cruelty free.
• Lots of scents. Fresh and Clean, Fragrance Free, Baby, Lavender, Coconut Vanilla, Soft Pistachio and Vanilla, Sweet Petals, Spring, Peppermint, Citrus Clove and seasonal options such as Pumpkin Spice and Christmas Morning.
• Light, compact packaging. A cardboard box instead of a plastic bottle, which the brand says is 94% lighter to transport than a jug.
• A no-quibble guarantee. UK buyers can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase, opened or unopened, with no need to send the product back.

What’s in a Clean People box

Each delivery is simply your chosen box of laundry sheets, in the scent you picked. A typical subscription looks like this:

• A box of 32, 96 or 192 perforated detergent sheets, one sheet per medium load
• Any add-ons you have attached to the subscription, such as dryer sheets, wool dryer balls or dishwasher products
• Cardboard packaging rather than a plastic bottle

Expect few suds. Clean People says its formula is deliberately low sudsing and that foam has little to do with cleaning power.

Is Clean People worth it?

Clean People is a well-reviewed product and the sheets are easy to live with, but for UK subscribers it is not our first pick. The big boxes bring the cost down to about 22p a load, which is reasonable for a sheet detergent, and free UK delivery plus the 30-day refund make it low risk to try. Against that, every box crosses the Atlantic, delivery takes up to twelve business days and charges are processed in dollars. British brands such as Smol and Homethings deliver faster, bill in pounds and offer laundry alongside the rest of your cleaning. Choose Clean People if you want a fragrance free or baby formula sheet with a long list of scents and you are happy to plan ahead; otherwise start with a UK brand.

Pros

• Simple dosing with no spills and no plastic jug
• About 22p a load on the 192-load box, with free UK delivery
• Full refund within 30 days, opened or unopened
• Wide choice of scents, including fragrance free and baby

Cons

• Ships from North America, five to twelve business days to the UK
• Terms say charges are processed in US dollars, so card fees may apply
• Cancellation must be made five days before the billing date
• The 32-load box is expensive per wash

Clean People FAQ

How much does Clean People cost in the UK?

The subscription costs £11.70 for 32 loads, £25.74 for 96 loads or £42.90 for 192 loads, with free delivery to the UK. That works out at roughly 37p, 27p or 22p per load.

How do I cancel my Clean People subscription?

Log into your account or email Clean People at least five days before your next billing date, which is shown on the My Account page. If you cancel later than that, the cancellation applies from the following billing period. You can also skip shipments or change the frequency instead of cancelling.

Is there a Clean People discount code?

Subscribing already gives a discount on the first order and every renewal compared with buying once. The brand also runs seasonal sales and new customer offers on its website, so check the banner on the site before ordering.

Is Clean People worth it?

It is worth trying if you want simple, fragrance free or baby-friendly laundry sheets, and the 30-day refund removes most of the risk. For most UK homes, a British brand such as Smol is quicker and avoids dollar billing.
