Wickes sells the Draper 62-piece tool advent calendar for £31, just 50p a piece

Wickes sells the Draper 62 Piece Advent Calendar for £31, which is 50p for each of the 62 pieces behind its 24 doors. Draper’s own website gives a recommended price of £34.99, so Wickes is £3.99 below it. The calendar builds a small tool kit by Christmas Eve, with sockets, screwdriver bits, hex keys and a bottle opener.

What is in the Draper tool advent calendar?

The limited edition calendar was made with Santa Pod Raceway, the drag racing venue, and its box shows Father Christmas on a drag bike. Behind the 24 doors are 62 pieces that end up in one storage case. According to Draper, the full list is:

  • 1 soft grip T-handle (125mm).
  • 10 sockets with a 1/4 inch square drive (4 to 13mm).
  • 36 screwdriver bits, 25mm long, in Phillips, slotted, Pozi, hex, Torx-style and square heads.
  • 8 hex keys (1.5 to 6mm).
  • 1 universal socket for 3/8 inch drive (7 to 19mm).
  • 3 adaptors and extensions, and 1 Y-type bit.
  • 1 bottle opener.
  • 1 storage case.

Wickes says the calendar is for DIY, trade and motor fans, and the case keeps everything together once the doors are open.

How much does it cost, and is that a good price?

The Wickes page shows £31, excluding delivery, and “Currently in Stock” with next-day delivery available. Standard delivery starts from £5, and Wickes delivers Monday to Saturday. At £31 the calendar comes to about £1.29 a door, or exactly 50p a piece if you count the case and the bottle opener as pieces, as Draper does.

The recommended price on Draper’s website is £34.99, so £31 is a saving of £3.99, or about 11%. We also saw another retailer, Tool Store Direct, list the same calendar at £24.99 in stock on 28 October 2026. We did not check its delivery charge, so work out the total before you compare it with Wickes.

Draper also says it gives £1 from each calendar sold to Ben, the charity that supports people who work in the automotive industry.

What we think: a useful kit, not a gimmick

Our take is that this is a practical advent calendar, because you keep a working set of tools rather than a pile of wrappers. The 36 bits and 10 sockets cover most flat-pack furniture, bike repairs and small jobs around the house, and the universal socket helps when you do not have the exact size.

The catch is that it is a basic kit. The sockets are 1/4 inch drive and the longest bit is 25mm, so it will not replace a proper toolbox, and you do not know which tool is behind which door. As a stocking filler for someone who likes motorsport or fixing things, £31 is fair. If you can find it for less, and the delivery is reasonable, it is worth the check.
