Monthly Tee Club review

The Monthly Tee Club is a really simple idea. Every month they send you a t-shirt (or two or three), custom printed according to your interests. When you subscribe you fill out a little form stating your preferences, and from that they come up with a cool design.

I sent off my interests – geeky stuff generally – and size (10) and also a note to say nothing rude! I was told that they don’t really do any rude designs, so no danger for the school run!

All the shirts are printed in house, and it takes a couple of weeks to arrive.

The box arrived; it was flat enough to fit through the mail box.

An ewok!

There’s the whole design. It’s very cute, and totally inoffensive. I also love Star Wars!

Now, as to fit. This is the size small ladies’ shirt. I’m a small size 10 (often 8 on top), and I found it just a little bit snug around the chest. The website does say that they are slim fitting, though I have other slim fit small shirts that are larger. I don’t really wear tight t-shirts, so I think I probably would have gone up a size had I realised. While I do have a slightly broader back and shoulders than some women (because I lift) it’s extremely rare that anything is ever snug round the chest on me!

Full marks for the quality of the shirt. It’s 100% cotton, which is wonderful. I can’t bear polycotton and I’m very pleased they use a nice material. It’s not a thick shirt, but it’s not thin and flimsy either. I haven’t washed it yet, but it strikes me a something that will become nicely worn in after a few washes. They shirts are also preshrunk, so it’s not going to shrink in the wash.

The design is great fun, and the quality of the print is reasonable. It’s printed right into the fabric, rather than that plastic printing that always cracks after washing.

For women at least the sizes seem to come up small.  Any woman who is a little, ahem, bosomy, should definitely avoid the small size!

As an extra bonus, this company also operates #Tee4aTeeProject, which donates a shirt to a person in need for every shirt bought by subscribers.

Our score: 9.0/ 10

If you love fun t-shirts and are a bit bored with your wardrobe, this is a nice way to get hold of shirts that match the things you like. It would also make a terrific gift. At a tenner a shirt the price is entirely reasonable, and all the designs are unique so you're not going to be wearing the same thing as lots of other people!
