Boxcitement – July 2019: Getting ‘Zestival’ ready!

My Boxcitement boxes always seem to land on my doormat on a Friday. It’s a lovely way to start the weekend. Depending on how manic my week has been I often forget it’s coming so it’s a wonderful surprise. This box couldn’t have landed at a better time, as I needed to make use of a lot of the contents the following week!

What was in the box?

  • A recycled glass bead bracelet commissioned from a women’s collective in Ghana.
  • Handy strap to help carry a bottle of water.
  • Keyring with a mini torch and a ‘happy’ charm.
  • A ‘party pad’ notepad.
  • Handy cotton lunch bag.
  • One set of party invites.
  • A little rose quartz heart decoration.

The best bits

I am a big jewellery fan so I loved having this in the box this month. I have arthritis in one hand and carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists, so I often find elasticated bracelets don’t work well but this one was perfect. The elastic it is strung on has quite a lot of tension so when it’s on you know it won’t fall off. It’s not painful and I loved the recycled beads, they were a real talking point.

Practical and fun – the perfect combination

At first I wasn’t sure exactly what this was but when I realised I was so pleased. I had to work at an event about a week after the box arrived and knew I would struggle to keep hydrated, especially as it turned out to be the hottest few days of the year so far. This was perfect and meant I could carry around a bottle with me even if I didn’t have anything else to hand. It’s a brilliant addition and not something I’ve really seen around.

Another perfect choice was this torch and charm keyring. Fortunately I didn’t need it at the event but I packed it anyway. We’re thinking of going camping over the summer holidays so this will definitely come in handy then. Even if you’re not a festival type of person this is still super handy to have on you at all times, just in case you need it walking home in the winter or if your car breaks down.

This tote bag is another welcome addition. Pretty without being too twee and just the perfect size for lunch on the go. We’re off on our holidays soon and I plan to take it with me for a snack bag for my son!

I’m normally not hugely fussed with some of the stationery bits in the Boxcitement boxes. They can be a bit hit and miss with me but this one made me smile. I plan to use it later in the year when it comes to present ideas. It’s also just handy to have around the kitchen to write speedy notes to the other half.

Our score: 10.0/ 10

This box couldn't have come at a better time for me as I had to take part in an event for work the following week so the mini tote bag, the keyring/torch and the water bottle carrier were all absolutely perfect. I also loved the bracelet and having bought some jewellery from an independent site which sells these kinds of bracelets I know that they are not a cheap item. I think it was a unique take on the theme (which is a bit of a Boxcitement hallmark if you ask me) and one I really loved.
