Whirli now lists its Small toy box at £26.99 a month, but a new monthly subscriber does not receive the full 80-token allowance immediately. On 7 November 2026, the current pricing page sets out a three-month introductory period: 20 tokens in month one, then 40, then 60, before reaching 80 in month four.
That is the important detail to compare, not just the headline monthly fee. The lower £25.64 monthly equivalent shown on the default three-month option means paying £76.92 upfront, not £25.64 each month. That prepaid option gives the full 80-token allowance straight away.
What has changed in the offer?
The current plans are called Small, Medium, Large and X-Large toy box. They replace the old Toy Sack-style offer framing. We would not budget around an old £4.99 first-month promotion: the current plan selection page shows the prices and allowances below.
- Small: £26.99 monthly, with a maximum of 80 tokens; new monthly subscribers start at 20.
- Medium: £31.99 monthly, with a maximum of 120 tokens; new monthly subscribers start at 30.
- Large: £37.99 monthly, with a maximum of 160 tokens; new monthly subscribers start at 40.
- X-Large: £45.99 monthly, with a maximum of 240 tokens; new monthly subscribers start at 60.

Tokens are a borrowing limit, not a fresh monthly box
Whirli is a toy-rental service. You choose toys within your allowance, keep them while they are being enjoyed, then send them back to release tokens for something different. You do not receive another 80 tokens on top every month.
The brand describes one token as roughly £1 of a toy’s new recommended retail price. That makes the first month’s 20-token Small allowance roughly £20 of toys by that measure, against a £26.99 subscription payment. You are paying for access and rotation, not buying those toys outright.
Paying for three, six or 12 months upfront avoids the stepped monthly introduction. For Small, the totals are £76.92 for three months, £145.75 for six and £275.30 for a year. Twelve separate £26.99 monthly payments would total £323.88 before optional extras.
Delivery and cancellation are part of the maths
The plan includes one standard delivery and return each month. Extra standard swaps cost £4.99 for delivery and £4.99 for return, while premium services cost more. Unused included swaps do not carry over. The optional Delivery Booster is £9.99 a month for unlimited standard deliveries and returns.
Whirli says plans can be changed or cancelled, but its subscription terms add an essential condition: cancellation only takes effect after all hired toys have been returned or bought. Until then, further charges can fall due. Cancelling a prepaid plan also normally ends it at the end of the paid term, rather than creating a mid-term refund.

What we think
The three-month option is easier to understand if you want a useful toy allowance from the start and are confident you will keep swapping. The monthly option has a smaller first payment, but the reduced opening allowance makes it less generous than the 80-token headline might suggest.
For a family trying to reduce clutter, borrowing can make sense. For a child who wants to keep every favourite, or a household unlikely to organise returns, buying a few carefully chosen toys may be simpler. We have not trialled the current plans ourselves.
