It’s October, so of course this month is Halloween-themed: Hungry, Hungry Halloween!

Japan produces wonderful Halloween snacks and candy, so this month is always great fun.

The menu booklet tells you all about each snack, and it looks like we have a mystery one this month too!

The booklet also contains extra fun such as competitions and information about the current season in Japan.

The drink this month is Lipton Creme Brulee Milk Tea in a special Halloween edition packaging! Milk tea is very popular in Japan, and is chilled black tea with milk and comes in many different bottled flavours. This flavours is delicious, almost like a milkshake with a slight bitter edge from the tea which stops it being too sweet.

Japan produces many wonderful varieties of KitKats, including limited edition versions. This KitKat Apple Pie is a special edition for Halloween. The wafer is sandwiched with apple cream, and the chocolate coating contains biscuit pieces and is also apple flavoured. And to top it all off, it’s purple!

Bubbly Taiyaki Berry Zombie is a fantastic Halloween version of this popular candy. Taiyaki candy is a fish shaped wafer filled with light bubbly chocolate, as is based on the popular street food pastry. This version is green and black on the outside, and the chocolate filling is red berry flavoured for a spooky look.

There is one of three possible varieties of Pringles in this month’s box, including traditional Soy Sauce, Japan exclusive Mystery Flavour, or this one, which is Tom Yum Kung Flavour Pringles. This flavour is based on the famous Thai hot and sour soup with shrimp, and is exclusive to the Asian market.

In a little tribute to one of the most famous wizards ever, we have Maple Butter Beer Ramune Candy. Ramune is Japanese soda, and the candy is sweet, fizzy, and melts in the mouth. A great seasonal version of a classic Japanese candy.

This Caramel Corn Pumpkin Pudding Flavour is a fantastic festive version of a classic snack. Japanese caramel corn is sweet corn puffs, and they come is many different varieties. This special edition version has a wonderful taste, and contains real pumpkin, plus egg and condensed milk for a lovely spiced pumpkin custard taste.

Pokemon Halloween Choco Corn is another corn snack, this time shaped like Pikachu and coated in chocolate. The regular Pokemon design has had a Halloween twist, featuring one of several different packaging designs for the spooky season.

The packaging might look alarming, but these Sweet Potato Karusatsuma Sticks are delicious! They’re pretzel sticks, which are very popular in Japan, and have sweet potato backed into them for a lovely sweet flavour.

Four mini candies here. Franken-Gum, soda flavoured gum which turns your mouth green! Great for a Halloween trick. Halloween Pudding Marshmallow, a soft and delicious marshmallow with a sweet pudding centre; Grape Soda Gummy, which is fizzy and fruity, and one of several Ghoulish Gummies, this one being a spooky spider!

Another nice savory snack, Halloween Corn Pizza Flavour are crunchy corn snacks in a cute seasonal packaging. They really taste remarkably like pizza too!

Monster Stamp Ramune are a toy and candy in one! They’re ramune candies with a coloured design, so you can actually lick them and stamp the design. OK, they are rather sticky, but they’re a lot of fun, and ramune candy is delicious.

More monsters, with Monster Monster Gum Energy Flavour. This is a trick and treat in one, with some pieces being sweet and some having a super sour flavour, but of course they all look exactly the same!

The last item is a Halloween Mystery Snack. Each box will have a different one, but I got  Riska Umai Wa – Mentai Flavor which are corn puff pieces flavoured like spicy cod roe.

Our score: 9.8/ 10

Halloween is my absolute favourite TokyoTreat box every year! I love the flavours and selections, but all the fantastic packaging and fun limited editions make it really special. It's fasntastic to have more KitKats, I hope we keep seeing them every month, as there is really nothing like the variety available. The couple of cute 'trick' candies are really fun too, and I love the stamp ramune candy. I've not seen them for a long time but I'm delighted they're back. Another favourite is the milk tea, and whereas I usually like my tea hot and without sugar, these chilled versions are really delicious and a nice change from the usual cup. Once again, I think TokyoTreat has done a fantastic job with this selection, it really is a holiday to remember!
