  • Seasonal florist bouquets
  • From £25

The Blossomist is a small UK florist that sends seasonal flowers on a schedule you choose: every week, every two weeks or once a month. You pick one of four styles, from a £25 letterbox box you arrange yourself to a £35 luxury bouquet that comes with a free vase, and delivery is included. You can pause, skip or cancel from your account, so there is no lock-in. It is not the cheapest flower subscription in the UK, but it is one of the more flexible, and the hand-tied option is a genuinely good gift for someone who lives too far away to visit often.

What do you get in a Blossomist flower subscription?

You choose a bouquet style once, and The Blossomist’s florists decide what goes in it each time based on what is in season. You cannot pick individual flowers, but the team updates the subscription bouquets every week on the site, and they say they will try to help if you do not like the look of an upcoming one. The four styles are quite different, so it is worth choosing carefully.

The Letterbox (£25 a delivery)

13 to 15 stems from 3 or 4 varieties, packed in a slim box that fits through a standard letterbox. The flowers arrive dry and unarranged, so you trim them and put them in your own vase. This is the one to pick if nobody is home during the day, because it simply waits on the doormat.

The Hand-Tied (£28 a delivery)

Around 18 stems from 5 to 7 varieties, arranged by a florist and tied, ready to drop into a vase. Hand-tied bouquets travel with a compostable hydration wrap so they arrive drinking rather than wilting. This is the most popular gift choice and, for most people, the sweet spot of the range: a proper florist bouquet for a few pounds more than the letterbox.

The Classic Single Stem (£35 a delivery)

One variety per bouquet, in classic colours: think a vase full of roses, lilies or tulips rather than a mixed arrangement. The number of stems depends on the flower. It suits people with a minimalist home or a strong favourite, but you pay a premium for the simplicity.

The Luxury (£35 a delivery)

Around 25 premium seasonal stems across 7 varieties. Luxury subscribers also get a free vase, which The Blossomist values at £20. For the same £35 as the single stem option you get noticeably more flowers, so unless you specifically want one variety, the Luxury is the better buy at the top of the range.

How much does The Blossomist cost?

There are two ways to pay. The ongoing plan charges you per delivery, 3 days before each one, and runs until you stop it. The prepaid plans cover 3, 6 or 12 months up front and then end on their own, which is how most people buy it as a gift.

Bouquet Ongoing, per delivery Prepaid 3 months Prepaid 6 months Prepaid 12 months
The Letterbox £25 £75 £144 (£24 each) £276 (£23 each)
The Hand-Tied £28 £90 (£30 each) £165 (£27.50 each) £330 (£27.50 each)
The Classic Single Stem £35 £105 £204 (£34 each) £396 (£33 each)
The Luxury £35 £105 £201 (£33.50 each) £396 (£33 each)

Prepaid plans deliver one bouquet a month. Delivery is included in every subscription price above, which matters: a one-off Blossomist order costs £4 for Royal Mail standard delivery or £6.95 for DPD next day on top of the bouquet.

What it really costs over a year

The frequency you choose changes the bill far more than the bouquet style does. On the ongoing plan, the Letterbox comes to about £300 a year monthly, £650 fortnightly and £1,300 weekly. The Hand-Tied is about £336 a year monthly and £728 fortnightly. Our advice: start monthly or fortnightly. Weekly flowers sound lovely, but most good bouquets last well over a week, so you end up throwing out flowers that still look fine.

One quirk worth knowing: prepaying barely saves you anything. The Hand-Tied prepaid for 3 months works out at £30 a bouquet, which is more than the £28 ongoing price, and even the 12 month plan only saves 50p a delivery. Prepay if you are giving it as a gift and want it settled; if it is for you, the ongoing plan is just as cheap and far more flexible.

How does delivery work?

You pick a delivery date at checkout and your subscription repeats from there at the frequency you chose. Flowers ship on a next day service through Royal Mail Tracked 24 or DPD, and you get a tracking link once they are dispatched. Deliveries arrive between 8am and 7pm on the day, with no timed slots, and the vast majority land on the chosen date, though Royal Mail can occasionally run a day late.

The Blossomist delivers nationwide across the UK, but not to PO boxes, BFPO addresses or the Channel Islands. If you will be out, the letterbox box goes through the door, and the courier can leave a hand-tied bouquet in a safe place, where its hydration wrap keeps it going until someone gets home. If a delivery has not turned up within 3 days, the team will send a free replacement or refund you.

Can you skip, pause or cancel?

Yes. Log in to your account on theblossomist.co.uk to pause, skip, change the delivery date or cancel the ongoing plan. The thing to watch is timing: payment is taken 3 days before each delivery, and the subscription policy asks for changes 3 days ahead, so make any change at least 3 days before your next box to be safe. Leave it later and that delivery will probably still go out and be charged. Prepaid plans do not need cancelling, as they stop when the paid term ends.

What makes The Blossomist different?

Three things stand out. First, choice of format: few subscriptions let you switch between a letterbox box and a florist hand-tied bouquet within the same service, which makes it easy to match the gift to the person. Second, it is a small team rather than a factory operation, and every bouquet is made or packed by hand, which shows in the more natural, gardeny arrangements in their photos. Third, it takes sustainability seriously for its size: it buys from British growers where possible, packaging is recyclable, tape and stickers are compostable, ribbons are made from recycled bottles and hydration wraps are compostable.

The 7-day freshness guarantee is also reassuring. If the flowers do not last a week, The Blossomist replaces them; report damaged stems with a photo within 48 hours of delivery.

A good gift subscription?

This is where The Blossomist is strongest. Choose a prepaid 3, 6 or 12 month plan, add a message, and the first delivery arrives with a gift certificate and your note; after that the flowers keep coming monthly with nothing more for you to do. It is ideal for parents or grandparents who live far away, a friend who has just moved house, or the person who insists they want nothing for Christmas. Order before Christmas and the first bouquet arrives ahead of the day, with the rest following into the new year.

Who is it not for?

If you want to choose exact flowers or colours every time, look elsewhere: The Blossomist designs the bouquets for you. If price is the main driver, a weekly habit adds up quickly at £25 or more a delivery, and you will find cheaper letterbox options. And if you want same day delivery, this is a next day service only.

Alternatives to The Blossomist

  • Bloom & Wild: the best-known letterbox flower subscription in the UK, with a huge range and a slick app.
  • Freddie’s Flowers: weekly or fortnightly flowers in bud that you arrange yourself, with a recipe card to follow.
  • Bloomon: designer, almost architectural bouquets if you want something less traditional.
  • Flowerbx: high-end single variety bunches, the premium equivalent of the Classic Single Stem.
  • Interflora subscription: florist-made bouquets from a big national network.
  • Bunches: another long-standing independent sending flowers by post.

Our verdict

The Blossomist is a well-made, flexible flower subscription from a small team that clearly cares about each bouquet. The Hand-Tied at £28 with delivery included is the pick for most people, especially as a gift, and the Luxury is the better value of the two £35 options thanks to more stems and a free vase. The Letterbox is fine, but at £25 it has stronger, cheaper competition. Do not prepay expecting a big discount, as there barely is one, and remember the 3 day cut-off before each delivery. If you want a thoughtful, low-effort flower gift that keeps arriving, it is an easy one to recommend.

How do I cancel or pause my Blossomist subscription?
