Playing around with different scents is such a fun thing to do, whether you’re looking for a new signature scent, or you just like variety! Secret Scent Box sends you three specially selected perfumes every month, in little spray bottles, complete with a scent card for each.
The box fits right though the letterbox, and each card describes the notes of each scent, which is great for identifying and discovering your particular likes.
Police – Amber Gold
This perfume is a new release from the Italian fashion house Police. It’s an intensely warm fragrance, slightly spicy, and while you catch a hint of the florals they are very low key – this is not a flowery perfume at all! The base notes combined with the bergamot give it a marvellous rich oriental-type feel, a perfume for hot summer nights.
Dolce & Gabbana – Q
Another new scent here, released 2023. I found the citrus top notes were very bright indeed, and made a wonderful initial impact. It’s a bit like a lovely fruity summer cocktail. The cherry adds a little sweetness, but not in the candy-scent was you sometimes get in fragrances. I liked it very much initially, but found that when it faded it became rather less interesting, and the musk seemed quite strong. That being said, it’s a fun fragrance for summertime and the younger woman.
Sergio Tacchini – Splendida
This perfume from 2022 is sweet but is saved from over sweetness by the layers of florals and wood. The tonic bean is a wonderful base note to add sophistication, and the fruity top notes give it some zest, toned down slightly by the florals. Like the Amber gold, this is definitely an evening perfume, with interesting layers and develops beautifully over time. And even though it’s sweet, it can be worn by women of any age.
