Rhute, the dermatologist scalp serum that keeps selling out: our verdict

Rhute is the London scalp-care brand from consultant dermatologist Dr Aamna Adel, and its hero product, Density + Repair, is the scalp serum everyone keeps talking about. On rhutehair.com it costs £55 for 50ml, with optional delivery every 30, 60 or 90 days at 10% off, and Beauty Independent reported it sold out three times in its first two months after a September 2025 launch. Here is what you get, what the subscription really costs, and our frank take.

Who is behind Rhute?

Dr Aamna Adel is a UK consultant dermatologist with a large TikTok and Instagram following built on plain-spoken hair and scalp advice. Beauty Independent (19 November 2025) says she spent three years developing the formula after her own postpartum hair loss and after hearing the same frustration from patients: plenty of products, little clarity, and almost no minoxidil-free options that treat both the follicle and the scalp barrier.

The brand is still young. The serum launched in September 2025 as a direct-to-consumer product that ships to the UK, EU, Canada, Australia and the US, according to that same report. On 14 October 2026 the range on rhutehair.com also includes a Triple Density Complex pre-wash oil (£35), a Precision Dermastamp (£32) and two bundles. Rhute has not announced a high-street listing yet.

What is Density + Repair?

Rhute: Density + Repair Scalp Serum, 50ml, £55. A daily leave-on serum for dry or wet hair. You part the hair into four sections, apply one pipette dose to each section, massage it in and leave it. Rhute says it is minoxidil-free, vegan, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive and colour-treated scalps.

The brand lists caffeine, bioactive peptides, plant stem cell extracts, niacinamide, saw palmetto, panthenol and salicylic acid among its actives. On its product page (checked on 14 October 2026) it cites its own consumer study: 80% of users reported less shedding, 79% saw denser-looking hair, 83% said their scalp felt healthier and 71% reported faster growth, after consistent use. Those figures come from Rhute, not from an independent trial we can cite.

Results, according to Rhute, tend to show as calmer scalp in the first fortnights, less shedding around weeks four to six, and fuller-looking density from weeks eight to twelve. It recommends daily use for at least three months.

Our take: is the hype deserved?

Yes, with a clear “if”. The sell-outs are real enough to take seriously: Beauty Independent reported three sell-outs in two months and a first drop that went in under an hour, and Metro covered a long waitlist in December 2025. On 14 October 2026 the serum is in stock again, rated 4.7 out of 5 from more than 350 reviews on Rhute’s own site, and it has picked up UK beauty awards badges on its product page (Marie Claire UK Hair Awards 2026, Cosmopolitan UK, Get the Gloss, Grazia).

What we like: a dermatologist founder who has lived the problem, a minoxidil-free angle that many readers specifically want, a lightweight leave-on format, and a proper subscription option (10% off on 30, 60 or 90-day delivery) rather than a one-off bottle you forget to reorder. At £49.50 a bottle on subscription, a three-month run still lands around £148.50 before any bundle deal, so you should only start if you will actually stick with daily use.

The catches: the clinical numbers are Rhute’s own study, not an independent medical trial, so treat “clinically proven” as the brand’s claim. £55 is a lot for a 50ml scalp serum when pharmacy minoxidil and cheaper caffeine tonics sit well below that. The Dermastamp adds another £32 and needs careful use (microneedling is not for everyone). And we have not tested the serum ourselves.

It suits you if you want a minoxidil-free, dermatologist-led scalp routine and you are willing to give it a full three months. If you are after a quick fix, or you are happy with a pharmacy treatment your clinician has already recommended, skip the hype and stay put.
