Les Parcelles by Stéphane Derenoncourt – Maison Bouey – Bordeaux 2017
History: Stéphane Derenoncourt, a famous winemaker based in Bordeaux, was called the ‘best winemaker in the world’ by Denis Durourdieu, a respected professor of oenology at the University of Bordeaux. Working together with Maison Bouey, they have created the Parcelles collection to celebrate some of the best vines in the region.
Grape: 100% Merlot
Senses: In the glass, this wine is a shiny garnet red with a pleasant and expressive aroma. It’s bone-dry, full-bodied and has strong marked tannins with a smooth texture. Notes of black fruits such as Blackcurrants and Blackberries come through the strongest, with hints of Coffee and Tobacco adding sophistication and additional flavour. This wine pairs well with Truffle Risotto and Chocolate Fondant.
Marques Del Villar – Les Passeurs de Vin 2018
History: Described by Philippe as ‘love at first sip’, this wine from Les Passeurs de Vin has been created by a group of friends from Southern France who have developed a passion for Spain across the border. This passion has resulted in travelling to and fro to create Spanish wines with a French twist!
Grape: 100% Tempranillo
Senses: A shiny purplish red in the glass, this wine has a pleasant and expressive fruity aroma which is matched with the flavour which is fresh and semi-sweet with marked tannins and a silky texture. A deliciously fruity wine with flavours of Strawberries, Plums and Blackberries, it also has notes of Cinnamon and Vanilla so it pairs well with a number of dishes such as Spanish Jamòn, Beef Rib with Piquillos and Blueberry Pie.
