Lootaku – January 2021 FAREWELL – NOT THE END – DRAGON BALL

NOTE: Sadly this is the last Lootaku box, at least for the moment. Difficulties with shipping and exporting due to the pandemic have meant that for now Lootaku is shutting down the subscription box aspect of the company, though they are still going to be designing and selling pins, so if you’re a collector, do check them out! There will also be a few past boxes available to buy on their website.

Lootaku is a premium monthly subscription based service to fulfill everybody’s geeky addictions. Our box features full figure statues and Asia exclusives that you will not find in any other subscription box. We promise no filler or promotional items, and our values are always based on current cheapest prices on Amazon.

Prices and values on the Lootaku website are given US dollars. A one month subscription is $44.99 (three and six month subscriptions are cheaper). This is around £35 and UK Shipping is $17.66, around £14. Slightly pricey, but this is a premium box. Also it’s coming a long way and it’s a big box!

So a 1 month subscription is going to cost you around £49.

For the final farewell box, the theme is Dragon Ball, an anime and manga classic.

Banpresto Legends Collab Super Saiyin Goku. As always, a superb premium figurine.

This is a large and surprisingly heavy figure, standing around 9″ tall. While it looks quite a simple pose, there’s incredibly details, such as all the folds in the clothing, the hair, and of course the fantastic Yardrat armour. A really striking figure.

Lootaku Exclusive Majin Vegeta Fleece Blanket. Lootaku has occasionally come up with some really fun and slightly off-the-wall exclusive items. This is one of them, a 100cm x 150cm snuggly fleece blanket with this fantastic and striking design. It’s the perfect size to put over your knees on a chilly evening, and there are plenty of them right now! They are also going to make a pin in this design, so if you love to collect pins that will definitely be one for you! I love that they’ve included something so original and useful in this last box.

Dragon Ball Maijin Buu Plush. Plushes can definitely be a Marmite thing, but this one is a lot of fun! Also I like plushes. He’s a pretty good size, around 20cm tall, and has some great detailing on the costume and face.

Limited Edition T-shirt – Dragon Ball Items. I think this is the first ever shirt with a pocket, and it has a clever little twist. The design is partly inside the pocket, consisting of various items related to Dragon Ball such as the Dragon radar, senzu beans, and a Capsule Corps capsule. As always it’s a beautiful quality thick cotton shirt, and it has its own individual number on it too.

Limited Edition Pin: Dragon Ball Goku Farewell. This poignant moment from the very last Dragon Ball episode is the perfect design for this last pin from the Lootaku subscription. It’s beautifully designed and detailed, and has the individual edition number on the back.

Our score: 9.8/ 10

I'm very sad about the demise of this subscription box. It really was an incredible example of a real premium box aimed at anime and manga fans, and this kind of quality is very hard to come by. While the plush might be a controversial addition, I think every item is excellent, from the quality figurine to the lovely cosy blanket, which will be a lovely souvenir of Lootaku at its best. I just hope that one day it is able to come back again!
