Greenall’s Wild Berry Gin (37.5%)
The inspiration for Greenall’s Wild Berry Gin comes from the plentiful blackberries that grow in the hedgerows throughout the English countryside and once you taste the gin, you can be easily transported to a luscious green space within seconds. Blackberries and Raspberries are infused in Greenall’s award-winning Original London Gin, so you really do get the best of both worlds – all of those fruity notes with a rich blend of botanicals which are added to 100% British wheat spirit and water that is sourced from the foothills of the local Cheshire Plains. A beautiful fruity gin to try for the Summer.
Liverpool Organic Gin (43%)
I thoroughly enjoyed the Liverpool Rose Petal Gin which was in last month’s box (read my review here), so I was very pleased to see a bottle of the artisan’s classic Organic Gin in June’s box. Produced in limited numbered batches at a small site in Kirkdale, this gin is a premium organic gin which is made using only certified organic botanicals, which produces a highly distinctive and aromatic drink. It has an intense Juniper flavour, but this is well balanced with bright, citrus notes – in fact, it’s one of my favourite Northern gins!
The tonics in June’s box are both from Inginius who I haven’t heard of before. They are made in small batches using on the finest natural ingredients, which are carefully blended and steeped by hand. Developed in collaboration with John Gordons, the celebrated cocktail and gin bar in Cheltenham, these tonic waters are specially designed to complement the more refined and delicate flavours from small-distillery and craft gins.
The Classic Tailored Tonic is the perfect match for dry gins, whilst the Citrus Sweet Tailored Tonic is better suited to sweeter gins. I paired these accordingly and made some incredible G&Ts!
