Boxcitement – September 2018: A Metropolitan Masterpiece

The theme of the September box was Metropolitan and I really liked it; it’s not a theme that naturally sprang to mind so it was lovely to discover something unusual and made a welcome change. It was a different take on ‘city living’ and everything in the box this month was really high quality and incredibly useful.

What was in this month’s box?

  • A beautiful wooden comb
  • A ‘key to the city’ bracelet encouraging you to never give up
  • A handy shopping list pad
  • A ‘diamond’ and pearl necklace
  • A receipt envelope for those dangerous shopping sprees!
  • A pack of bath salts with wooden scoop
  • A hanging air freshener for your gym locker.

The highlights

The necklace was a great addition, my son absolutely loved it – he marveled at the beautiful pearl – and I particularly loved the quirky diamond addition. It was also a really good length as more often than not jewellery can be quite short but this was just perfect. The bag it came in was also really good quality and I’ll definitely find a use for it! As a bit of a jewellery fiend I loved that there were two treats this month, I can’t wait to tie the key bracelet to my wrist and wear it until the string breaks and my wish comes true.

The bath salts were also a pleasant surprise. The weekend the box arrived coincided with a sponsored walk so it was lovely to come home again and have a nice relaxing soak. The wooden scoop was a nice touch, it’s really high quality and if you could bear to part with this it would make a wonderful pick me up gift.

I also really liked the make up pouch, I have been carrying all of my make up to work recently because I haven’t got round to sorting through it after taking it away with me in August. Now I have the perfect chance to reorder and reorganise and this is just the right size.

I am yet to use the comb or the receipt envelope (I try to hide my receipts!) but if you are an organised person then I am sure the receipt keeper will come in very handy! I plan to use the shopping list pad in the run up to December, where we have 12 birthdays to deal with as well as Christmas!

Our score: 9.8/ 10

This was another brilliant box from the team at Boxcitement. I liked the fact this box didn't have any notecards in it; not because I don't love them when they are there, but because I just don't have as much use for them and they are starting to pile up a bit! The only reason I've marked down by 1 point this month is because I'm quite picky with my air fresheners and I am not sure I will have much use for the one included in this box, but it was a nice change and I can see how it would come in handy (for someone less picky!).
