ZBox – March 2016: Guardians

The March ZBox edition was a Guardians themed box and much like the previous boxes it was packed full of fun geeky treats paying homage to all things ‘Guardians’. If you are new to the concept of the ZBox from Zavvi it’s a monthly subscription box (from £19.49 per month) which contains a mix of geeky gifts and treats all linked to the individual monthly theme. All boxes have a retail value of around £40 for all the contents which gives really great value and from the boxes I have tried out I am yet to be disappointed as I love all things geeky.

Back to the March box and first out of the box was the Halo: Hunters In The Dark Book by Titan Books, an epic New York Times bestseller from Peter David (author of ‘Fearless’, ‘The Hidden Earth Chronicles’ and the comic of ‘The Incredible Hulk’’ to name but a few) and of course based on the ever popular XBOX game. I love this addition to the box as it’s not a novel I would usually pick up and I have already seen my teen and other half eyeing it up so I’m sure it will do the rounds in our household!

The Heroes Godsend prelude comic (to Heroes Reborn) written by Joey Falco, and illustrated by Roy Allan Martinez is the first part of a collection of five and has made me want to buy all of them! I have just finished watching the boxset of the original Heroes series and have the first three seasons in comic form so this was a really welcome addition to the Guardians box – love it!

Each time ZBox add in a t-shirt It feels like it is even better value in my eyes and I love the creative design ideas behind each one. This month being no exception with the Guardians Of The Galaxy (River Rafter: J.D. Canoe Rental Dolores River) t-shirt and how appropriate to have a Peter Quill t-shirt from the epitome of the ‘Guardians’ theme!

Pop Vinyl’s are so popular and it’s really no surprise, they are collectible, look really cute and you can get so many varied characters to adorn your shelves. Adding one of the Harry Potter ‘Guardians’ into the box from Funko meant that each box would contain either Ron Weasley, Professor Snape, Hermione Granger or Dumbledore – and in my box was the very cute looking Dumbledore, although I would have been happy with any of the Pops!

With the new Ghostbusters film out, Zbox added in a wallet with the classic imagery from the original movie into the box from Dynomighty. If you love and know the original movie this will be right up your street – it’s really light and although it feels like it’s made from paper it’s actually really durable plastic.

In the shape of Optimus Prime and his friends the last addition to the Zbox ‘Guardians’ are of course the Transformers with two packs from Hasbro, each containing a figurine and 3D puzzle collection cards. The archetypal ‘Guardians’ protecting us from the Decepticons and it was no surprise to me that the box would have a little something from the Transformer movies.

So there you have it – another month from ZBox the only other thing added was the Zbox magazine which is packed full of information about the monthly theme – and more. This box is fast becoming a favourite of mine as the items are so varied and unique, really looking forward to next month’s box which is Batman themed.
