Taffy Mail – January 2018: Extra Box

Bored of the usual candy options in your newsagents? Fancy trying something different? Why not give Taffy Mail a go?! Taffy Mail specialises in bringing a surprising variety of exciting and authentic American candy, drinks and snacks straight to your door every month. Most of these products aren’t readily available in the UK, so it’s a brilliant way to try out some popular American treats.

You can choose between three different types of monthly subscription to suit a range of budgets; Lite, Classic and Extra, with the differences between them being how many products you receive and how much they cost. The Extra boxes are really big indeed and contain larger products such as cereal or limited edition flavours. I’ve got January’s Taffy Mail Extra box to show you below – it’s a good ‘un!

Here’s what I found inside:-

Pringles Honey Mustard flavour

Taffy Mail’s Extra boxes often contain Pringles and it’s really fun to see what flavours they include as I never see these varieties here in the UK. This month, they have the Honey Mustard flavour which is absolutely delicious! It’s a little sweet with a hint of spice at the same time – they’re very moreish!

Pop Tarts Limited Edition Frosted Green Apple Jolly Rancher flavour

Pop Tarts are a big part of American breakfast culture but I’m still on the fence as to whether I like them or not – my sister is a huge fan though! These are the Limited Edition Jolly Rancher variety that comes in a popular Frosted Green Apple flavour.  They’re very sweet and have a juicy apple filling.

Sprite Cherry flavour

This month’s drink is a can of Sprite Cherry flavour which I’ve never seen or tried before. It combines the classic Sprite flavour with a hint of Cherry that transforms it into something much more tropical and summery. Loaded with sugar but delicious as a treat!

Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme Dipped Pretzels

Oh my, these are amazing!!! I love chocolate pretzels and these ones are covered in a super sweet Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme chocolate. They are SO good! Needless to say this pack didn’t last very long!

Cheez It White Cheddar Baked Snack Crackers

Moving onto something more savoury, I found a bag of Cheez Its which I was pleased to see as I’ve seen these in countless movies and TV shows, so I’ve always been curious to try them. They’re very cheesy and moreish – really tasty and make a great snack to nibble on when you’re watching TV.

Snickers Peanut Butter Squares

This pack contains two squares of Snickers that have a generous layer of Peanut Butter inside which works so well with the classic Snickers recipe. I really wish we had these in the UK!

Swedish Fish

Swedish Fish are a real love them/hate them kinda candy, but I’d say if you like wine gums, you’ll probably love them as they’re very similar and come in a range of different fruity flavours all in one pack.

Skittles Sweets & Sours flavour

A new candy from Skittles! This latest addition to their range contains a mix of sweet and sour fruity flavours which I enjoyed!

M&Ms in Peanut Butter flavour

I was so happy to see these because I love M&Ms and anything that contains Peanut Butter, so these are a match made in heaven for me. Why don’t we have these in the UK?!

Heath Milk Chocolate English Toffee Bar

I’ve hadn’t heard of a Heath bar before, but it’s very similar to a Daim bar with a solid nutty and crunchy toffee centre that’s wrapped in a layer of thin milk chocolate. It’s not as sweet or buttery as a Daim bar which made it a little disappointing, but it was fun to try out.

Take 5 Bar

Made by Hershey’s a Take 5 bar has five layers that include Milk Chocolate, Pretzels, Peanut Butter, Caramel and Peanuts. It was relaunched back in 2016 and I can see why it’s been so popular! It feels very substantial to eat which is perfect for when you have a craving for all of the ingredients at the same time!

Nerds Guava & Mango Chile flavour

Nerds are a hugely nostaglic candy for me and I still love them as a treat to this day. This new flavour contains a side of Guava next to Mango Chile – both are fruity and very tasty.

Mike and Ike Sour-Licious Green Apple flavour

These Mike and Ike chewy candies hit a nice spot for when I want something a little sour and are packaged in a smaller bag to make portion control a little easier!

Jaw Busters

These have featured in previous Taffy Mail boxes and are hard round candies that come in five different flavours. They remind me of sweets that I used to buy at the school tuck shop.

Original Red Hots Cinnamon Candy

If you want something to warm you up, you can’t beat Red Hots which are the classic American cinnamon candy. I can’t think of anything that we have similar to these in the UK, so they were fun to try!

Warheards Super Sour Spray Candy and Extreme Sour Candy in Apple

I love sour candy and America really does excel in this department, with Warheads being one of the most popular brands over there that does them. These two are incredibly sour and really hit the spot!

Pixy Stix

These are a blast from the past as I used to buy something similar at school – who doesn’t love Pixy Stix for when they want a sugar high?!

SweeTarts

Lastly, I found two packs of SweeTarts which are a mix of sweet and slightly sour/tart hard candies – again these are great for when you have a sugar craving!

Our score: 9.0/ 10
