Spacegoods, the British brand behind the mushroom coffee alternative Rainbow Dust, has replaced its Astro Dust evening blend with Sleep+, a caffeine-free chocolate drink built around a rice peptide called PeptiSleep. It launched on 13 October 2026 at £34 a month on subscription, or £39 for a single 30-serving pouch.
That makes it one of the pricier hot chocolates you can buy, so we looked at what is actually in the scoop, what the brand claims and whether the subscription maths stack up.
What is Spacegoods Sleep+?
Sleep+ is a powder you whisk into hot milk or water before bed. Spacegoods pitches it less as a sleep supplement and more as a night-time ritual: founder Matt Kelly told The Checkout he wanted something “you genuinely look forward to taking at the end of the day”. It comes in one flavour, chocolate, with no added sugar and 14 kcal per serving, according to the brand.
The headline ingredient is PeptiSleep, a peptide derived from brown rice. Spacegoods cites a 2024 controlled study in adults with mild to moderate sleep problems, in which 250mg a day was linked to 17% more deep sleep and 38 extra minutes of sleep a night. Those are the brand’s figures from a single study, and we have not tested Sleep+ ourselves, so treat them as a promise rather than a guarantee.

What is inside each scoop?
According to the nutrition panel on the Spacegoods product page, one 8g serving contains:
- Magnesium (citrate, taurinate and bisglycinate): 200mg, 53% of the reference intake.
- L-glycine: 2,250mg.
- Maitake mushroom (from 8:1 extract): 1,000mg.
- Reishi mushroom (from 15:1 extract): 1,000mg.
- PeptiSleep rice protein hydrolysate: 250mg.
- L-tryptophan: 250mg.
- Lemon balm (from 4:1 extract): 150mg.
- Montmorency cherry powder: 150mg.
- Chamomile flower: 100mg.

The 250mg of PeptiSleep matches the dose in the study the brand quotes, which is a good sign. The 200mg of magnesium is a sensible everyday amount rather than a megadose, and glycine at 2.25g sits close to the 3g used in most sleep research. The mushroom and herb extracts are there in useful quantities, but the evidence for reishi and maitake on sleep is much thinner.

How much does Sleep+ really cost?
On 25 October 2026, the official Sleep+ product page shows three ways to buy:
- One pouch, one-off: £39 (30 servings, £1.30 a night), plus £3.99 standard delivery.
- Monthly subscription: £34 a pouch (£1.13 a night), with free UK delivery.
- Three-month subscription: £68 for three pouches (about 76p a night), with free UK delivery.
Spacegoods also offers a 60-day money-back guarantee and says you can cancel, skip or edit a subscription at any time. Single-serve sachets are due at the end of November, and the brand told Retail Times that Sleep+ will follow on Amazon, then at Holland & Barrett in January 2027 and Tesco in February 2027.

Our take
Sleep+ is a smart product with a slightly cheeky price. The formula is more thoughtful than most “sleepy” hot chocolates on the high street: the doses of PeptiSleep, glycine and magnesium are real, and it tastes like a treat rather than a supplement, which is exactly why people stick with a bedtime routine.
But £34 a month is a lot for a mug of cocoa if the ritual is what does most of the work. The three-month plan is where it starts to make sense, at under 80p a night, roughly the price of a decent supermarket hot chocolate sachet. It will suit you if you already like Spacegoods, struggle to switch off and want one drink that replaces a magnesium tablet and a camomile tea. If instead you just want magnesium, a plain supplement costs a fraction of the price, and if you simply want a cosy bedtime drink, there is no need for a subscription at all. Our advice: start with the 60-day guarantee in mind, and set a reminder before the second pouch ships.
