There are two options:
Discovery Box – A perfect introduction. Discover and learn. £36/Month
Expert Box – The finest French wines for Connoisseurs. £60/Month.
Your three bottles arrives safely boxed up – there’s also an outer shipping box for extra protection against damage. September’s collection is two reds and a white.
Each box focuses on wines from a different region of France. This month is Roussillon in southern France.
As well as the regional information card, each bottle has its own card with details about the wine, plus tasting notes.
First, La Coule Douce Rouge 2018.
This was a wonderfully fruity red! Apparently it can also be drunk slightly chilled, but when I drank it the weather was rather cool. It tasted excellent at room temperature.
Next is Dialogue Rouge 2016 Chateau Montana.
This was less fruity and more rich than the first red, but still delicious. I found the flavours were much more developed on the second day of opening.
Finally, the white, Charpentier Blanc 2017 Domaine de Vezian.
This was really very nice. Again, lovely and fruity with definitely citrussy flavours. It was also lovely and rich for a white wine, even when well chilled.
Now the weather has cooled down it was great to have two bottles of red, which I always prefer in the winter. The white was also full-flavoured enough to be enjoyed on cooler evening!
The value of the box is good, especially when you factor in delivery. All these wines are not easily available, and you’re certainly not going to find them in the supermarket.
I enjoy having tasting notes and information cards very much. The region cards are also especially interesting, as after a while you can see how different wines are from different regions.
