Your Sommelier – Festive Christmas Wines

Your Sommelier is a monthly wine subscription box.

Every month you will receive 3 bottles of French wine selected by our Sommeliers with matching tasting cards including food pairing, information about wine, regions and appellations. You’ll also get our welcome binder to regroup all of your cards.

There are two options:

Discovery Box – A perfect introduction. Discover and learn. £36/Month

Expert Box – The finest French wines for Connoisseurs. £60/Month.

I was sent the Festive Discovery Box, with wines for the Christmas meal!

Usually I would drink the wine before writing the review, but as this is a box for Christmas, this review needs to be turned around fast, otherwise it wouldn’t be published for Christmas!

So, I’ll show and describe what’s in it.

The box is delivered by courier. Nice and easy and arrives fast.

The bottles are very well packed, and were in perfect condition.

On top are their wonderful information cards about the box theme and each individual wine.

As you can see, these wines have been chosen especially to go with your Christmas dinner! These are exactly what we would choose: bubbles for canapes, red for the main meal, and a dessert wine to go with the pudding. So as well as the specific wines, the three bottles are perfectly suited to your festive day.

I wouldn’t expect actual Champagne to be included, simply because the box isn’t expensive enough. But that doesn’t matter; I think a good prosecco, cava, or crement, is just as pleasant as champagne, and isn’t going to have the same hefty price tag.

I looked up the vineyard, and it seems to have a good reputation in general, and their cremant is well-regarded.

Oh, and it’s organic.

Turkey might be technically white meat, but I think red wine goes with it beautifully. I’m hoping this is a lovely rich flavour without being heavy. I like the look of the characteristics: fruity is good!

Finally, dessert wine! This is such a treat. Do you have wine just with pudding and cheese? It’s really worth trying!

According to the description this is semi-sweet. This sounds promising, as while I love dessert wine I don’t like it when it gets too syrupy. This sounds like it will have the perfect balance.

On the left is the binder I received with the first box I reviewed.

Anyway, as I said, I haven’t tasted these because they’re waiting for Christmas, and even if I didn’t wait, it would take me more than a week to get through them! But the first Your Sommelier box I tried was superb, so I totally trust that this one will be equally splendid.

If you’re looking for some perfectly selected wine to go with your Christmas dinner then I reckon you can’t go wrong with this box. You’ve also got time to get on and order before Christmas is upon us! I’m impressed by the thoughtfulness of the selections, and it’s also a great opportunity to try some new things.

Cheers and Merry Christmas!
