Nomakenolife contains 8 – 9 items of cosmetic, hair, and skincare products from both Japan and Korea, two places which are very serious about their beauty products.
They have one-, three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions costing from $35 (around £27) for one month (longer subscriptions are cheaper). Shipping is free.
This month’s theme is Summer Essentials, which is perfect for July! (At least I hope so, because a summer essential for June was an umbrella!)
You’ve got a full list in the menu booklet, which also tells you how to use the product and where it’s from Japan or Korea.
There’s often also a product that’s specially featured, and this month it’s the Choosy Air In Beauty Gummy. More on that later!
Prreti Pure White Milk Cream is an interesting product. Apparently it brightens up your complexion, as well as having moisturising effects. It can also be used on elbows, underarms, and knees. Looking it up online, apparently it is designed to lighten your skin as well. Keeping the skin light and bright is a popular thing in Asia, so this is definitely quite a specific product.
From a personal point of view, I’m pretty pale as it is and I prefer getting a little bit of a tan, so lightening isn’t something I want to do! I found that while it did even my skin out, it definitely enhanced my paleness, as well as lessening my freckles. I think this is an interesting product, but I think it is relatively niche for people who really want to be pale.
Etude House Bling Bling Eye Stick is a lovely soft shimmery colour stick which is great for adding a little colour to you eyes with one swipe. It’s very easy to use, and it’s a great product for summer!
Along with the shimmery eyes, you’ll have super shiny lips with The Saem Yum Yum Lip Syrup. Not only is the packaging adorable, this moisturising gloss gives you just the right amount of bright colour tint!
Kocostar Foot Moisture Pack is the perfect summer treatment. The hot weather means you’re going to be getting your feet out in sandals, so this is the perfect way to make sure they are nice and soft after months hidden in shoes! This foot mask is extra special because the little booties are waterproof so there won’t be any leaks.
This Sakura Blotting Paper and Bandage Set is handy to slip into your handbag. It contains two plasters and 10 sheets of blotting paper to keep the shine off your nose on a hot day.
Choosy Air In Beauty Gummy is the featured item in the booklet. These peach flavoured gummies contain collagen (so not for veggies), calcium, hyaluronic acid, and fiber, and apparently are meant to beautify your lips.
Now realistically there isn’t really much evidence that these kinds of things work, unless you have some kind of deficiency, but aside from sugar they’re not bad for you, they taste pretty good, and they’re definitely a fun and unusual item you won’t find anywhere else!
This Frill Makeup Pouch is a cute accessory for this month. It’s a cute little makeup bag with a zip closure, perfect to pop in your bag. The inside is also plasticized so you don’t have to worry about leakage!
Finally, Hatonugi UV Milky Gel. This is a combination sunscreen and moisturiser, and is the the most important thing in your summer beauty kit. At SFP 31 it’s not for sunbathing, but it’s perfect everyday sunscreen to keep your face protected.
I’m looking forward to using the foot moisturizer, as I’m in desperate need of a pedicure, my feet are definitely still in winter mode!
I’m not quite convinced about the blotting paper set, while it’s useful it hot water I think this item is a little bit insubstantial.
The white cream is quite perplexing. I may be completely wrong about not liking it, but I think the pale skin thing isn’t so culturally prevalent in the West, so while it’s a great example of a specialist Korean beauty product, I’m not sure how much resonance or use it will have in the UK. That being said, they may well be loads of subscribers who love it and I’m the outlier!
This month’s cosmetics are fun, with great style and perfect for sunny weather.
The UV sunscreen is definitely my favourite item this month. It’s so important to use sunscreen on a regular basis, especially when the sun finally comes out in the UK! I love the combination of moisturizer and sunscreen, it makes it much easier to remember to use it regularly.
