Nomakenolife: January 2023 – Back to Glow

For the first box of the new year, nomakenolife is celebrating the natural look, a a contrast to the glamour and excess of the party season!

The ‘no makeup look’ is very on-trend right now, combining subtle makeup with skincare to bring out the best in your natural skin. The menu booklet tells you all about the minimal look, and there’s also a full list with instructions for all the items in the box.

LuLuLun One Night Rescue Face Mask, Point Pack Aloe

The first mask is designed to be used overnight for an especially intense treatment. The party season can leave skin feeling tired, and this is perfect to bring some glow and hydration back. They also recommend using the essence that remains in the lack to treat your hands and neck, which are often neglected in the skincare routine.

Point packs can be very useful for targeting particular problem patches. Aloe is cooling and soothing, and these individual moisturising patches are suitable for all areas of the body, including dry elbows and knees.

Club Select Touch Liquid Eyeshadow, Twisted Wonderland Blush & Lip Cream Colours Club Bare Face Tinted Lip Essence

Liquid eyeshadow is pearly and slightly shimmery and glides on very smoothly. The pigmentation is good, and the liquid formula moisturises nicely, which is important around the delicate eye area.

Twisted Wonderland do a terrific line in cosmetics and fun accessories. This is another creamy product, this time suitable for both lips and cheeks, which is a useful and practical combination, especially when out and about or travelling. As a bonus, the tin is a keepsake and can be used for storage and decoration after you’ve finished the product.

I think tinted lip products are one of the most useful everyday cosmetics out there. This one is designed to moisturise the lips, especially useful in winter, as well as adding a beautiful shine and subtle colour.

Milcott CICA Deep Intensive Balm, Fluffy Cleansing Pad

Cica is a herbal extract that has been used for healing and soothing dry skin for a very long time. It’s a very popular ingredient in Korean skincare, and this balm is a great  example. It’s designed to be used overnight to help sooth exceptionally dry areas, and also to protect from pollutants and UV rays. It’s quite rich so a little goes a long way, but it’s a terrific nourishing product, especially for winter time.

Makeup remover pads are a really useful beauty tool. It’s designed to remove makeup using only warm water, and it’s very soft so won’t be harsh on your skin, with with rough surfaces or harsh products. It cab be easily cleaned and dried fast for use the next night.

Salon Lady Clay Hair Mask – Surprise Care Item

This clay mask is designed to nourish dry and damaged hair. You put it on clean hair, leave, and then rinse. It’s terrific for hair that’s feeling a bit partied-out, and it’s got a lovely scent too. Just the thin for some bonus haircare.

Our score: 9.8/ 10

I do like this month's theme. I quite like to go for a minimal makeup look, and finding products that facilitate this is really useful. I particularly love the lip tint, as it's a product I like to use a lot, as I find a bit of colour is perfect for every day, and the moisturising aspect means I don't have to worry about lip balm too. The Cica cream is another favourite, as my skin can get very dry in winter, and some intestine treatment, along with the face masks, is really important for me. All together this is a really well balanced collection, with some great core products for moth makeup and skincare.
