Moi-Même – July 2016: The Adventure Box

A dose of ‘Me Time’, delivered straight to your door. That’s the idea behind new beauty and lifestyle box Moi-Même, a quarterly subscription service for women who deserve a treat and a bit of time out.

The first box had an Adventure theme and I’ve got to say, I was really impressed with the contents.

For many of us, summer means travel, sunshine and creating (or dreaming) of new adventures, and this first instalment from the Moi-Même team got me wishing of warmer climes just before our own mini-heatwave hit.

The box contains a perfect balance of beauty products, accessories, jewellery, lifestyle goods and stationery – in other words, my dream combo in a box of this genre. Naming no names, but I’ve found in the past that the quality of the lifestyle items in similar boxes can be hit and miss, but Moi-Même hit the mark with this first selection and if they can maintain the high standard in subsequent curated picks then they are onto a winner and definitely worth a subscription.

But enough of the intro, what was actually in the large, white box?

The first thing I discovered was a beautiful leather passport holder by Laurige. Mine was in a gorgeous teal but a great thing about Moi-Même is that you can let them know your favourite colours up front but if you would prefer a different one, you can swap them. How great is that! No swaps necessary here, though, as I love the colour and the quality was A1. The passport holder came in a small canvas drawstring bag in case you would like to give it as a gift.

Next up were two fabulous beauty products by Evolve Organic Beauty. The first was a Tropical Blossom Body Polish sugar scrub made with Tahitian monoi, a delicious but gently-scented treat which made me think of warm summer nights by the beach. There was also a small tub of Tropical Blossom Body Butter packed with Shea Butter. This is gorgeous and the size is perfect for slipping into your toiletry bag for a trip away. Again, the scent wasn’t overpowering, offering a nod to far flung destinations and lazy, hazy days.

There were two beautiful goodies from Lisa Angel in the box. My favourite is this gorgeous scarf with a mini pom pom edging. It’s huge, a really good size, so it’s ideal as a cover up on cooler summer evenings, as a wrap on the beach or simply tied loosely around your neck. I love the pattern I was sent and the colours are so cheerful. There are four patterns available, and again if you received one but preferred another, you can make the most of the swap service.

The second Lisa Angel accessory was a dainty rose gold bead and soft grey leather bracelet. I love bracelets and stack them high in the summer. Rose gold is also a favourite of mine, but here I’m wearing it with a silver bangle. This is a really lovely item, comfortable to wear and the colour hasn’t worn off the beads. It’s such a pretty addition to my jewellery box.

Finally, there was a personalised travel journal to complete the box. The A5 lined notebook has a fabric cover with a map of the world with “Kate’s Adventures” stitched on the front. Of course, you could get yours personalised to whatever you wish! The notebook itself was of high quality paper and really thick with plenty of space to fill with tales of exotic adventures or travel plans.

I was really impressed with this debut box by Moi-Même and look forward to seeing what the next theme will be. It was a well-thought out, curated selection with a nice personal touch (something which you don’t get from all similar boxes) and it’s great that you can exchange items from your box if you prefer a different shade or pattern.
