Lootaku – October 2018 Dragon Ball – Saiyan Legend

Lootaku is a premium monthly subscription based service to fulfill everybody’s geeky addictions. Our box features full figure statues and Asia exclusives that you will not find in any other subscription box. We promise no filler or promotional items, and our values are always based on current cheapest prices on Amazon.

Prices and values on the Lootaku website are given US dollars. A one month subscription is $44.99 (three and six month subscriptions are cheaper). According to my currency converter today this is £34.66. UK Shipping is $17.66 (£13.60). Slightly pricey, but this is a premium box. Also it’s coming a long way and it’s a big box!

1-month subscription total: £48.26

This month’s franchise is Dragon Ball, featuring the Saiyan, which are an endangered race that appear in the various incarnations of the Dragon Ball manga and anime.

The box this month is pretty large! Isn’t it a cool design?

There’s only one figure in the box this month, but it’s a biggie: Banpresto Grandista Resolution of Soldiers Super Saiyan Goku.

This large figure stands around 8″, and shows some battle damaged sculpting.

The details are excellent, but what really makes this figure special is that it has interchangeable head and arms, plus a removable cape.

Another option here.

Here’s the figure plus the extra cape, head, and arms.

This is Dragon Ball Shikishi Art Series 6. Shikishi art is illustration style drawn in black ink, and this is a kind of blind bag of one of 16 illustrations.

This is a pretty cool item, a Lootaku Exclusive Super Saiyan Trunks Fleece Throw Blanket.

Once  in a while Lootaku goes a little off-piste and throws in a practical item, and this blanket is a great example. It’s soft, made from polyester, and features this cool picture of Trunks.

At 100×150 cm it’s not big enough to wrap yourself up in, but it’s perfect for covering up on the sofa!

This month’s exclusive t-shirt is a Goku Genkidama + Oozaru Vegata design.

It’s a limited edition exclusive, and features an iconic scene from the Dragon Ball Z Vegeta saga.

It’s also 100% cotton and a good quality thick shirt.

Finally this month’s limited edition Pin. This features Kid Goku with glitter effect on the nimbus for extra sparkle!

There’s also a menu card, which gives you details, including RRPs of each item.

I’ll start straight in, as I always do, at the contents value as I can discover. I use an online currency converter so they’re correct at time of writing. I can’t always take into account shipping costs of individual items, but I do my best to be fair.

I never take the values as gospel, simply because this is a box from Hong Kong and often their items are Asia-exclusive or at least extremely difficult to find in the UK. Also I find you can never reply on RRP for anything. That being said, I’ve not yet valued the contents of one of their boxes at less, or even equal to, the price of their subscription.

Often I can find things on Amazon, but some of the items in Lootaku boxes are nigh on impossible to source in the UK, so sometimes I have to guesstimate. I also don’t use eBay as reference, as I find prices are not reliable or realistic.

We saw at the top that the monthly subscription is £48.26

T-shirt – I usually value geek shirts at £10, but I’m going to call this £13, because it’s better quality than average, and it’s a limited edition.

Pin – I’m estimating at £5, because it’s good quality, a decent size, and limited edition.

Gohan figure – this was surprisingly difficult to track down. I don’t think it’s available in the UK at the moment, so I’m going to call it £30, because of the extra interchangeable pieces.

Dragon Ball Shikishi – again can’t find in the UK so I’m going to say £5.

Blanket – this is a Lootaku exclusive item, so very difficult to price. Amazingly enough, I found a couple of DBZ fleece blankets on Amazon for around £30, so while I think that’s a little high, I’ll happily put the value of this one at £15.

Total: £68

This value is based on some estimates, but it still works out pretty well.

Three out of five of these items are Lootaku exclusive, as I’m pretty sure the figure isn’t going to be available in the UK for a while so it’s definitely a great one for collectors. The interchangeable head and arms as well as the removable cloak adds a great layer of interest to a figure which is already pretty cool!

I do like ti when Lootaku includes items which are a little different. The blanket is a good call for winter, and the shirt is nice quality and as always a great design.

Our score: 9.4/ 10

A great selection for DBZ lovers out there, and an impressive variety of items!
