Lootaku – November 2017: Civil War’

Lootaku is a premium monthly subscription based service to fulfill everybody’s geeky addictions. Our box features full figure statues and Asia exclusives that you will not find in any other subscription box. We promise no filler or promotional items, and our values are always based on current cheapest prices on Amazon.

Prices and values on the Lootaku website are given US dollars. A one month subscription is $44.99 (three and six month subscriptions are cheaper). According to my currency converter this is £33.80. UK Shipping is $17.66 (£13.27). Slightly pricey, but this is a premium box. Also it’s coming a long way.

1-month subscription total: £47.07

This month’s theme is Civil War, and is Marvel-tastic! The Captain America: Civil War movie came out in 2017, and features a whole array of Marvel characters.

The box this month is slightly bigger than usual. You can see in the picture it’s a bit bashed. I should say this is the first time ever I’ve received a damaged box.

Fortunately the contents are all fine!

SEGA Spider-Man Homecoming 1/10 figure.

This figure comes in one piece plus the stand, and is 20cm high. The Spider-Man Homecoming movie came out earlier this year, so this is right on point. This figure has a terrific dynamic pose.

This is another SEGA figure, Iron Man 45 1/10 figure.

Again in one piece, this is another great pose. Apparently Marvel figures are rather uncommon is Asia, and SEGA are harder to find than Banpresto (which regularly figures in Lootaku boxes).

This Iron Man LED Light Up Mini Figure is fun.

It’s one of 18 variations! It came with a stand, but I can’t make it fit. I’m also not sure what those little red things are, but it stands up fine on its own.

Hit a tiny button on the back of the head and it lights up!

Finally, a really tiny figure. This is King Arts Ant-Man Posed Character FFS003.

Apparently this is a limited release figure. The detailing is lovely, but it’s tiny!

Some idea of scale for you!

The menu card.

I’ll start straight in, as I always do, at the contents value as I can discover. I use an online currency converter so they’re correct at time of writing. I can’t always take into account shipping costs of individual items, but I do my best to be fair.

I never take the values as gospel, simply because this is a box from Hong Kong and often their items are Asia-exclusive or at least extremely difficult to find in the UK. Also I find you can never reply on RRP for anything. That being said, I’ve not yet valued the contents of one of their boxes at less, or even equal to, the price of their subscription.

Often I can find things on Amazon, but some of the items in Lootaku boxes are nigh on impossible to source in the UK, so sometimes I have to guesstimate. I also don’t use eBay as reference, as I find prices are not reliable or realistic.

We saw at the top that the monthly subscription is £47.07.

Spider-Man Figure: I found this on Amazon UK at £20 with free shipping.

Iron Man figure: Also on Amazon, this time £28.50 +£9.80 shipping. Wowzers.

LED Iron Man: I couldn’t find this anywhere. It’s cute but pretty small, so I’ll put it at £6.

Ant-Man figure: This is really tricky. The best price I found it officially listed was US$17.99 (the menu says $19). However it is out of stock in every store I could find, which would fit in with the limited release thing. On eBay it ranges from £5.99 (from China, not sure how genuine it would be!) to around £20. I’m going to say £15, but only because it does seem to be impossible to find outside the not-always-reliable eBay.

Total: £79.30

Value-wise, this is great.

Lootaku are extremely good at finding rare and interesting figures, and their boxes always contain at least one or two large and super-premium figures. Recently, Lootaku has been extremely figure-heavy. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though I’ve loved the boxes which have had a variety of items.

The last few months Lootaku have been including some really awesome non-figure items in their boxes, and I’ve absolutely loved them. Last month, for example, they included the most gorgeous backpack, and I’ve also acquired such items as scarves, coasters (exclusive and gorgeous) and plush figures.

The value is good, even with just four items (many previous boxes have had five or six).

I’m a huge Marvel fan, so these characters are great for me. But I still miss having the odd practical item or non-figure decorative item!

I can’t quibble with the value, awesome characters, and this is a serious premium box. But please please, I’d love to see some of the imagination that’s been shown in some of the previous boxes!
