I’ve said it before and I’ll happily say it again I’m a huge fan of Look Fantastic’s beauty box subscription. I was excited to see this month’s theme “Best of British” because let’s be honest Brits always do it better! As I opened the box I had high expectations and while I hate to start on a negative I was slightly underwhelmed which has never happened with Look Fantastic before. The box seemed huge compared to the six very little sample sizes. Having said that there were some very recognisable brands, so perhaps the focus was quality over quantity. Also, given that there were a couple of stand-out products which I am already planning on repurchasing the box did redeem itself!
I am such a huge fan that Look Fantastic often includes Elle. I’m a magazine fanatic; for me heaven is curled up on the sofa with tea and a pile of glossy mags. As magazines run a month ahead this was the September issue, so it was absolutely full to the brim of fabulous clothes, styling and makeup.
Ren – Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist
Ren is a skincare line I’ve used on and off for years and I tend to have a love/hate relationship with their products. Sometimes I find they’re too heavily scented or not very effective but not with this Anti-Pollution Mist. I absolutely LOVE it. I’ve tried a lot of these mist type products and this is hands down the best! It’s cooling on the skin, incredibly refreshing and smells lovely. My only word of warning is the spray is quite full on, it’s definitely not a light mist so I wouldn’t spray it over makeup.
Bee Good – Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm
This was a really lovely quality product and if you’re a fan of honey you’re going to love this. You can really feel and taste the fragrant honey. The British beeswax and hydrating Borage Oil is super conditioning and it’s excellent for repairing damaged lips.
Bloom and Blossom – Rejuvenating Facial Spritz
I thought it was a little odd they included two almost identical products in one box. It’s probably already clear out of the two I much preferred the REN version but this did have a couple of notable merits too. Infused with Horsetail Leaf and Gotu Cola Leaf Extracts, it helps reduce fine lines and transform your skin from dull and fatigued, to raidant and bright.
Balance Me – Congested Skin Serum
This was one product I was very happy to see. My biggest bug bear about my skin is congestion, so I was very excited to try this. I’ve been using it day and night for about 5 days and while I wouldn’t say I’ve seen a marked reduction in blocked pores or spots, I do like how this feels. The serum melts into your skin with ease, there is no stickiness or oily residue. In fact, I particularly like using it in the morning as it smooths out the skin and acts as a wonderful base. Also, it smells exactly like a spa.
Renu – Lip & Eye Active Lift
I’ve been looking for a good eye cream for a while so I was delighted to see Renu Skin’s Lip & Eye Active Lift. This has dermal filling effects which is fantastic if you’ve got mature skin as it will help with filling in any lines. It is a little bit on the oilier side so it’ll perfect if you suffer from dry skin. The addition of Arncia helps with banishing dark circles under the eyes to keep you looking fresh-faced.
Percy & Reed – Wonder Balm
There feels like there’s an awful lot of negativity in this review and I don’t mean for it but personally I’m not a fan of Percy & Reed. In terms of the actual product, it works pretty well but personally I just can’t bear the scent. Although I have to hand it them they have the cutest packaging!
