LifeBox – Energy October 2018

LifeBox is a monthly collection of natural snacks, drinks and ingredients to support a healthy lifestyle. All items are vegan, and gluten and dairy free. It costs from £22.95 per month, including postage.

This box is the Energy version, which is designed to support activity and recovery for both men & women. As t happens, there might be occasional items which are not vegan in this version of the box, but it’s very rare.

The box is quite big and heavy, and it’s beautifully presented. On top of the tissue wrapping is their menu card and a booklet.

The booklet is lovely. It tells you a bit about the box, which includes this month a stick from FASTING+. If you’ve every thought about intermittent fasting, this is a great support. You also get some recipes, and healthy living tips.

It also tells you about their charity partner, Trekstock, which supports young adults living with cancer. A donation is made to this terrific charity with every box sold.

Here’s the menu. There’s a lot in the box!

Benefit Protein Chocolate Bar. What a brilliant idea, so you can eat chocolate and get a good bit of protein as well! It also tastes like proper chocolate.

This is a Blue Dinosaur Paleo Bar, which is a bit like an all natural energy bar made from fruit and nuts. It’s very heavy on the carbs, but it’s all natural a great if you need a boost!

I love popcorn, and this Cloud Corn Sweet Chili BBQ Popcorn is a very tasty snack. I love savory things, especially popcorn, and this is a great low calorie snack.

Deliciously Ella Peanut Butter Energy Balls are a great snack, and they also have a nice little hit of protein. They’re gluten free and vegan, and made from just five natural ingredients.

This month’s drink is a Far Side Cold Brew. I love cold brew coffee, and this is very handy to keep in the fridge as I don’t have to wait around for it to brew!

Another energy bar, this time Hala Energy Bar. This has a good chocolaty taste from the cacao, and once again, all natural and vegan ingredients.

Instinct Bites are little pieces of freeze dried fruit, crunchy and tasty. As well as eating them you can also use them in baked goods! A lovely little snack.

This is an unexpected and very welcome addition, a Lucy’s Dressings Classic House Vinaigrette. I usually make my own dressing because commercial ones are full of horrible additives. But this one is all natural, and extremely good. It has a lovely fresh lemony zing, and works beautifully on any salad.

This is the Fasting + Sachet mentioned in the booklet. It can support intermittent fasting as well as keto and low carb diets. There’s more information on their website about it.

Rollagranola Neanderthal Nibbles are interesting – it’s savory granola! I actually prefer to think of it a a crunchy snack, because I associate granola with sweetness, but as a savory nibble it’s pretty tasty.

The non-food item in this month’s box is a mini tube of Biomed Superwhte Toothpaste. It’s fluoride free and has a very faint coconut taste rather than the usual mint. If you like to avoid fluoride and artificial foaming agents of conventional toothpaste this is an excellent choice.

The final bar this month is a Suzero Bar. It’s all natural, low in sugar, and has around 5g of protein per bar, which is pretty good, and it’s under 200 calories. This is the perfect snack bar for me!

The last snack in the box is Ufit Crunchers in Smokehouse BBQ flavour. These are a great high protein snack as a substitute for crisps.

As always, I’m incredibly impressed by this box. I’m always being introduced to new products, and as I lift, I really like discovering new higher protein snacks.

The only thing that isn’t so relevant to me is the Fasting+ sachet, as low carb/fasting doesn’t really suit me. But that’s only one item, I love all the rest!

The dressing is a great thing to include, even though the weather is getting colder salad is a great thing to eat, and not having to make dressing makes it even easier.

This isn’t a cheap box, though it’s great value considering what you get. A great many items are from relatively small producers, and it’s a fact that food with natural ingredients is going to cost more than a standard rubbishy chocolate bar. But if you’re serious about sourcing good quality healthy snacks you can’t go wrong with this!

One final thing.

With every six and twelve month prepaid subscription you get a lovely hoodie! I’ve been sent this black one (it also comes it white) and it’s lovely. It’s properly nice quality, thick and soft, perfect for throwing on to go to the gym. What a brilliant bonus!
