If you’re a chilli head or hot sauce lover, you’ll want to check out Lick My Dip. They offer a monthly subscription service where you’ll receive a box of spicy chilli and hot sauce themed food products straight to your door. The products are things that you can’t readily find in your local supermarket, as they choose to work with artisan and independent producers instead, so their boxes are always full of interesting and surprising goods!
The boxes are well packaged and arrive via Roya Mail towards the end of the month. Glass items are carefully bubble wrapped and they even throw in a cool branded logo sticker in the box too. Lick My Dip currently have two subscription packages available; a Taste box from £12.49 per month and a larger Ultimate Box from £24.49 per month.
February’s Ultimate Lick My Dip box included five chilli-based products:-Ooft Hot Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce
Made by the artisan company Ooft! in Scotland, this hot Scotch Bonnet Pepper sauce won a revered Great Taste award back in 2015 and it’s a fantastic hot sauce. What makes this one different is that it’s been ‘aged’ (fermented) for at least 12 months which eliminates the need for chemical additives, so you’re getting the real deal here. Made with the finest quality Scotch Bonnet peppers from the Carribean, this sauce is a hot blast on the taste buds, giving some instant fire to any meal with that distinctive Scotch Bonnet flavour that I just can’t get enough of. It’s a very versatile condiment to have in your kitchen cupboard and tastes amazing on burgers, veggie dishes and as a dipping sauce on the side to anything! The Dukkah Company Hot Sand
Handmade in Cornwall, The Dukkah Company takes influences from Northern Africa and Egypt, and creates some incredible products including these spice blends. Hot Sand is an exquisite fusion of Sesame Seeds, Almonds, Fennel, Cayenne, Chilli, Paprika, Celery, Black Pepper and Sea Salt, which you can mix with olive oil to create a tasty dip for warm crusty bread, or you can try it as a rub/marinade, or as a general sprinkle for any dish to add an instant chilli flavour. It’s a great mix of nutty and spicy, and I love how different it is to all the other spice blends that I have.Fiendfyre Hot Chilli Sauce
With a name like ‘Fiendfyre’, you know this is going to be a hot one, and it didn’t disappoint! Fiendfyre is the international award-winning flagship sauce created by Jon Myers of the Unusual Chutney Company, and it picked up the Bronze Medal in the World Hot Sauce Awards back in 2015. It’s made using some of the hottest chillies in the world and I can agree – you only need to use a tiny amount of this to realise how hot it is, yet despite its heat, it’s very tasty with a strong Jalapeno flavour coming through. Yum!Nagalicious Seville Orange Marmalade
Chilli based jams and marmalades are a great way to spice up a boring slice of toast for some chilli action first thing in the morning and this jar of Nagalicious Seville Orange Marmalade has been popular with everyone in my household since it arrived. Made with fresh Naga Chillis homegrown on a farm, this heat works surprisingly well with the tangy, fruity Seville oranges for a tasty toast topping that gets you out of a breakfast rut. You can also use it as a glaze for meats including gammon, and in cheese sandwiches to liven them up.Hot-Headz Jalapeno Cheddar Chips
This bag of Jalapeno Cheddar crisps from Hot-Headz did not last long as they were snapped up by everyone around me as soon as I opened the packet. Combining a good medium heat from the Jalapenos with the classic taste of cheddar cheese, these crisps ticked all the right boxes when it comes down satisfying savoury snack cravings with a twist. Really crunchy and something that would go well with a sandwich if you can stop everyone pinching them!
Lick My Dip boxes always deliver an exciting and interesting array of chill-based and hot sauce products – I’m never disappointed with them and I thoroughly enjoy trying out everything that they include. February’s box is a great example of the quality and variety that you can expect to receive from them every month.
