Geek Gear: May 2016 – Harry Potter

After being introduced to the Geek Geek Subscription box last month I was so thrilled to find out they do a Harry Potter monthly box as well. While I love getting geeky subscription boxes which have a selection of unique goodies, it’s refreshing to find a geeky styled box on a particular series of books and films and being a huge Harry Potter fan it makes it even more special. If you are new to Geek Gear it’s a geeky box packed full of unique goodies (5-10) and at £19.99 per month it’s exceptional value as each box has products worth £40-£60 and every month the box will have a different theme to keep in interesting.

What they also ship monthly are the amazing Harry Potter boxes too, you have two ways you can purchase these unique boxes either as a one off non subscriber for £24.99 or if you already subscribe to Geek Gear you get a discount and can subscribe to the Harry Potter box for £19.99 per month.  Don’t forget when you subscribe to give your t-shirt size as all your boxes will have a themed t-shirt as standard and this alone I feel offers fantastic value for £24.99 or £19.99 as a Geek Gear subscriber.

When I received the Harry Potter box I was so excited and couldn’t wait to open up the familiar treasure chest styled box. Let me tell you I was not disappointed at all, what an well thought out box with very collectable Harry Potter contents, this would delight any Harry Potter fan and if I let you in to a secret once you sample the box once – you will be hooked! Part of the appeal of the box aside from being a fan of the Harry Potter series, is the fact that upon the point of selecting the box you have a choice of your t-shirt size and also which Hogwarts house you would like to receive. I really value this option as subscribers/non-subscribers can tailor their experience to their own likes as far as the Hogwarts houses go. It’s no surprise to me that these boxes have become so very popular and I love the option you can buy a stand alone box without being tied into a subscription making them just perfect to buy as gifts for Harry Potter fans.

In the May box I received six items all carefully wrapped inside the ‘treasure chest’ Geek Gear box and unwrapping it all felt like Christmas as I loved each Harry Potter item! First out was the t-shirt and as I have previously said I feel including a t-shirt in each box is outstanding value and really adds a lot to the theme. The 100% cotton white t-shirt had the Hogwarts logo printed in black on the front and looked gorgeous on with it’s simple monochrome stylish look.

Two items which go perfectly together were the Hogwarts house mug (I received the Gryffindor house mug) and the Magical Loose Tea. The Hogwarts mug is a heavy sturdy mug with the house printed on the front and the house colour on the handle and the inside, it’s very good quality and a valuable addition for Harry Potter fans. Fruity tea in the form of Hogwarts Magical Loose Tea is a fragrant blend to help calm and soothe, and Geek Gear have cleverly included an exclusive Harry Potter Tea Infuser to brew the perfect cup of tea. I really wasn’t expecting this to be included in the box and it’s a lovely touch. The tea is in a small clear bag with a Hogwarts label and the Tea Infuser is decorated with pretty beads and the Deathly Hallows emblem.

Wrapped in brown paper and stamped ‘No Muggles’ next was something top of the list for all Harry Potter fans – an Elder Wand. The beautifully presented replica Elder Wand is the perfect size for casting spells and looks great on any mantle piece, I love the way it was wrapped and don’t worry about breakages as it’s very carefully covered in bubble wrap under the brown paper.

Lastly a piece that needs some wall space, an artist signed Harry Potter and Dobby Print with a certificate of authenticity which is exclusive to Geek Gear. It’s one of only 1000 prints and deserves to be framed and put on the wall as it looks so gorgeous and it was such a lovely surprise to find it beneath all the other Harry Potter goodies.

So there you have it my first taste of an exclusive Harry Potter box which you can either subscribe to or choose to buy as a one off box. I am quite amazed at the value for money and being a huge Harry Potter fan really impressed with the contents and the quality. I was a little concerned that the quality would be lacking but i’m so pleased to say it’s quite the opposite. This really is the perfect subscription box for any Harry Potter fan and what a great Christmas or birthday gift it would make too – I have already made a mental note of who I can buy this brilliantly themed box for as a gift let alone for myself! It’s one of those boxes you can’t wait to receive and I am really looking forward to see what will be in the next installment.
