What I love about subscription boxes the most is the fact that the concepts can be so diverse, so when I had the opportunity to review the May Designer Box #34 I was delighted as a it’s the first home/interior subscription box I have experienced. The concept behind the monthly Designer Box is that you get to receive exclusive designer products for the home in each box and the beauty is each will be unique and a complete surprise.
You can purchase 3, 6 or 12 months in advance and the cost is from €29 depending on how many months you subscribe to. Every month you will receive a unique and exclusive home object from one of the many star designers from Designer box, you will also have an informative newspaper ‘The Iconic’ giving all the news and information on the designer and the design in the box. A surprise element will always be in each box and of course the wooden box itself with the number painted on the top.
Each month you will always receive the beautifully made and very collectable wooden box which holds all the Designer Box home goodies inside, a work of art in itself with the number to identify it painted on the top of the lid. It has been designed in a way that you can use it to mount of the wall to display your art/books/home accessories or use to store away whatever you choose in a very stylish way. In the #34 Designer box every element is very carefully placed into the box for safe transit and I received my box very quickly from ordering. As I took out each part of the box I could see that the ‘Murakami’ by Studio Dessuant Bone was encased in a cardboard tube protecting it from any breakage and the team had cleverly designed the box to fit each item around the piece.
The star of the box was the ‘Murakami’ by Studio Dessuant Bone a beautifully designed bookend or paperweight, it comes with a signed certificate of authenticity and is the perfect piece to display in your home. Designed by Studio Dessuant Bone and named ‘Murakami’ after their most favourite author this colourful tactile piece will lend itself not only to a bookend or paperweight but also as a stylish piece of art in it’s own right. Essentially the piece is made from a concrete ball and a blue aluminium ‘wave’ both contrast each other and complement each other equally. Made in Lyon, France and incredibly tactile the ‘Murakami’ is such a beauty and will enhance any living space from traditional to modern and that is what I feel the designers want to offer to Designer Box – a versatile and beautiful piece of functioning art which will complement all living spaces.
As well as the ‘Murakami’ and the Iconic newspaper also included in the Designer Box is an original limited edition print from Studio Dessuant Bone to complement the design piece. It’s a beautiful striking piece of art and will look perfect in a simple frame on any wall with the blue and white design. I like the fact you can go on to learn more about the design team in the Iconic News included in the box it really enhances the whole experience of the box. The exclusivity and individual nature of each Designer Box makes it so unique and special, each month knowing you will receive something beautiful to display in your home from a top international designer is a huge draw. Not to mention once you are a subscriber and part of the Iconic Club you can take advantage of the exclusive discounts, special offers and invitations to events.
It’s refreshing to see a subscription box with such a difference and a perfect way to add some style and colour to your home every month. I’m so looking forward to seeing what will be in the next Designer Box after sampling the May box!
