Degustabox – January 2018

If you enjoy trying out new food and drink products, Degustabox is definitely worth a look! Their monthly boxes are always packed full of interesting products that are readily available in the supermarkets, so anything that you try and love, can easily be added into your grocery shop next time. I also love the value for money that Degustabox offer and the fact that there’s something for everyone in the family in every single box.

January’s Degustabox is themed ‘New Year New Me’, so there are plenty of healthier options this time around:-

Mahtay Yerba Mate Sparkling Tea (RRP £1.49)

This 100% natural sparkling iced tea is made with the popular South American Yerba Mate which gives you a natural energy boost. It’s blended with Coconut Water and Acai Berries for a refreshing and uplifting drink that you can enjoy at any time of the day when you need a little lift – perfect for the afternoon slump at work or Uni!

Clipper Everyday Organic Tea (10 teabags, free sample)

Clipper are one of my favourite tea brands so I was pleased to see a sample box of their popular Everyday Organic Tea. Using strictly certified organic tea, their bags are also unbleached, so if you’re looking for a healthier tea to drink, this is definitely one that I would recommend.

Pulsin Vanilla Choc Chip Protein Booster (RRP £1.59) & Vanilla Whey Protein Powder (RRP £1.99)

Next up, I found two products from the health brand, Pulsin. I’ve tried a couple of their protein bars before and really liked them, so I was happy to try out this Vanilla flavour. The Protein Booster Bar is absolutely delicious and has an awesome cookie dough type of texture to it, plus it packs in 13g of plant-based protein in every bar. I also enjoyed the new Vanilla Whey Protein Powder which is rich in amino acids, calcium and contains 22g of protein per serving – perfect for a post-gym refuel!

LighterLife Fast Shakes in Vanilla Velvet and Strawberry Passion (RRP £2.49 each)

Diet shakes aren’t something that I generally drink, but I was curious to try these after seeing some positive reviews online about them. Exclusive to Superdrug, LighterLife Fast recommends that you replace your meals with their products for 2 days a week to help with weight loss. I wasn’t overly keen on the flavour of either of these if I’m honest, however, I did like how much they filled me up and kept me going until lunchtime.

Explore Cuisine Organic Edamame & Mung Bean Fettuccine (RRP £3)

I’m always looking to try out healthier versions of pasta and this pack of Organic Edamame & Mung Bean Fettuccine is one of the best alternatives that I’ve tried! It has a good taste and texture, and as it’s gluten-free and made from beans, it has a much higher amount of plant-based protein and fibre – 3x more than regular pasta.

Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna Steaks (RRP £3.49)

Ranked no.1 in the US by Greenpeace for sustainability, these chunky Wild Tuna Steaks are 100% pole and line caught and contain no added salt, water or oil. I don’t eat tuna as I’m a vegetarian, but if you do, this is a fantastic brand to look out for and a much healthier way to eat it.

Jordans Juicy Red Berry Frusili Bars (2 x 45p each)

These bars are really good – they have a sweet chewy texture and are packed full of wholegrain oats, cranberries and raisins for an easy breakfast on the go. And there are two in the box – yay!

Latin American Kitchen by Santa Maria Chipotle Mayo Topping (RRP £1.80) & Columbian Crunchy Chicken Bites Seasons Corn Coating (RRP £0.90)

Next, I pulled out two products from Latin America Kitchen by Santa Maria. I love chipotle mayo and this one is absolutely delicious on basically everything! It’s creamy, smokey and has a little heat which is wonderful on burritos, rice bowls, salads and as a dip with sweet potato fries. I haven’t tried the Columbian Seasoning yet, but I imagine this will work well with veggies and things like Halloumi, as well as Chicken.

Robinsons Raspberry, Rhubarb & Orange Blossom Fruit Cordial (RRP £2.49)

This is the first time that I’ve seen a fruit cordial in a glass bottle from Robinsons and I like it! It feels very premium and fancy! There are a choice of three different flavours this month and I’m happy that I received this one as it’s very tasty and reminds me of Summer.

Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme Snack Pack (RRP £1)

Lastly, the final product is a snack pack of mini chocolate bars from Hershey’s in their popular Cookies ‘n’ Creme flavour. These are perfect for popping into lunchboxes or whenever you fancy a small sweet treat – yum!
