When it comes to unique subscription boxes, Craftiosity is my favourite as it’s so interactive, it allows me to create new projects every other month (although it is available as a monthly subscription too) and I end up with a unique creation! The Craftiosity boxes are so well presented and designed, they’d make a great gift! Additionally the people behind Craftiosity are so incredibly lovely!
Each box contains a new craft, DIY project and the project for May is to create a wirework key hook. I’ve seen items like this online but I never thought I’d make one for myself! One thing I adore about the boxes is that they introduce me to new skills, techniques and crafts each time. The May box is no different as I haven’t ever worked with wire like this before.
The boxes contain pretty much everything you need to create your item(s) each month with the exception of various household items you’d already have. The May box contains multi-use pliers, wire, glue, paint and more. The instructions each month are always detailed and easy to follow but there are also videos online.
The kit is made in conjunction with Helaina Sharpley as wirework seems to be her main medium. She creates a range of gorgeous and intricate wirework art and items. I think it’s great and adds another unique aspect to the box that they’ve started to work with artists.
The project for me personally was definitely challenging as I haven’t worked with anything like this before and while the instructions were good, it was just something I struggled with. My dad on the other hand helped make the keys and they turned out so well. I don’t seem to have the patience for this art form. However, I’m very happy with the end result and it looks great in our hallway.
