Gin Of The Month: Gin 1689 (70cl / 42% ABV)
October’s gin comes beautifully presented in a rather regal looking navy blue bottle and it actually does have some royal heritage attached! This authentic Dutch Dry Gin has been specially produced by distillers who dug through historic archives to uncover a 300-year-old recipe, recreating it step by step as it would have been made when William of Orange popularised gin in England.
Like many traditional dry gins, this one is heavily based on Juniper and includes botanicals such as Dried Quince, Pippin Apple, Lemon Peel, Orange Peel, Nutmeg, Aniseed and Clove. It has a floral and citrusy aroma with lots of piney and nutty notes that work well with the subtler spices. Well balanced and smooth, it’s a beautiful gin to try!
Mixers: Double Dutch Pomegranate & Basil, Indian Tonic Water and Cranberry & Ginger Tonic Water
For the perfect G&T, you can try three different types of premium mixers from Double Dutch. Their classic Indian Tonic Water is the obvious choice, but for added flavour, the Pomegranate & Basil and Cranberry & Ginger Tonic Waters are ideal for when you want something even more special to enjoy.
Mixers & Garnishes: 3/4 Oz Ginger Ale Syrup, Angostura Aromatic Bitters, Tiptree Tawny Orange Marmalade and Orange & Cloves
Inside your GINNED! magazine, you’ll discover some delicious cocktails to make this month and here are the extra special ingredients to help you shake up something tasty at home! Use the Ginger Ale Syrup, Bitters and Marmalade to recreate the Cocktail Of The Month on page 9, and the packet of dried Orange Slices & Cloves can be added as a flavourful garnish to any G&T.
Sweet & Savoury Snacks: Tony’s Chocolonely Dark Almond Sea Salt and Milk Hazelnut & Tyrell’s Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Crisps
