Here’s a box that offers something a little different to other boxes – clothes, and baby clothes at that! The site boasts that “you receive a lovely selection of designer baby brands at up to 60% off”. Sounds great.

You have a choice of three boxes at different prices. You simply pick a box, fill in the weight and height of your little one, what styles you like, items you’d like and their stylist does the rest – creating a bespoke box tailored to your style. The concept is fantastic especially for busy mums with little time to shop, grandparents looking for special gifts etc.

The box I shall be reviewing is the Gold box. The box itself is quite compact. It is fairly basic with the Box Upon a Time logo on. It may have been a simple design but definitely cute.
I received three items of clothing which, according to the leaflet inside totalled £103. The sheet also showed a breakdown of the prices too. I found a card on top of the clothes with the name of the stylist who picked the clothes on, etc. I thought this added a personal touch and was nice to add.

image (9)When I looked inside the box, my first thought was that the stylist probably didn’t think her choices through enough. There was a lovely fleece like material Petit Pim sleepsuit (it is Summer and around 20C upwards just now so probably not something she will use for a while), a cute red dress and a pair of leggings.

The sleepsuit, while gorgeous and cosy looking didn’t seem practical as I mentioned with it being summer. I tried it on Jessica, my eight month daughter and I reckon it’ll fit her a month or so but with the weather as it is she won’t get the wear. According to the sheet with retail prices on, this is £28.

image (12)I tried the red dress on Jessica. The material is lovely and light and it looks super cute on. My only issue with it was it’s very small made. The tag on it showed 12 months and when I had it on Jessica, it barely covered her bottom so I had to put some legging on with it and use it as a top. This, wasn’t a huge issue however. The retail value of the dress is £52.

Lastly I tried the leggings on Jessica. They are simply a beige colour with little yellow bows on. Jessica will need to grow into these and wear them later in the year as they’re too long. The leg has to be folded up and it hides the bows sadly. These are very cute and I can’t wait to have them on her later in the year with a nice top. Retail value £23.

In conclusion, I loved the red dress the most from the selection but would’ve opted for a larger size to last her longer. I had entered Jessica’s exact weight etc when I ordered the box but sadly the item seems to be made very small. The leggings and sleepsuit are lovely but I can’t justify image (11)their retail value at all as they are rather plain to look at. The sleepsuit is very cosy looking but so unpractical for Summer nights unfortunately. I would’ve preferred a lighter material sleepsuit or even another summer outfit.

For me on this occasion I cannot justify the £49 for three items where the one item that fits Jessica is supposed to be a dress. The stylist has picked lovely items, I cannot fault her there, but more thought needs to be put in I think. What I do like about the site is that if you’re not happy with the box, you can send it back for an exchange and receive other items which may be more to your taste. Any label fanatic out there would love this for their little one, especially with the money saved. A fantastic concept but needs more thought from stylists.
