Birchbox – June 2016: Paradise Found

If this month’s Birchbox doesn’t get you in the summer mood, nothing will.  Although the weather may still be slightly touch and go this box is brimming with sunshine!  The box even had a June makeover and features a slide out drawer.  I’m a big fan of this new style and even though it’s a one off for June, I’m keeping my fingers crossed they might just bring it back.  In the meantime, this is one box I won’t be throwing away as this tropical delight is just too adorable!  Plus you have a chance to win yourself a pair of Quay Australia sunglasses, just by sharing a picture and taking tagging @BirchboxUK and using #BirchboxUK or #BirchboxIRE.

This month’s box featured an array of products that are perfect for sunny day’s.

Absolution – Le Nettoyant Purete

This face cleanser is made with natural ingredients, such as chamomile and oats, and is perfect for sensitive skin.  The amazing smell reminds me of lemongrass and spas I visited in Thailand.  I’ve used this quite a bit since receiving my beauty box and I really like it.  It’s gentle on the skin but still effective and even removes stubborn makeup.

Laura Mercier – Souffle Body Cream in Ambre Vanille

I’ve been a fan of Laura Mercier’s Souffle Body Creams for a while now so seeing this was a real treat! It’s one of my favourite body creams of all time.  It’s quite a thick, nourishing cream but it absorbs into the skin effortlessly leaving no greasy trace and the scent is just incredible. Think sweet vanilla with a touch of floral and coconut which lasts for hours.

Percy & Reed – Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray

We all know braids are the hairstyle of the summer and this is exactly what’s required to keep those gorgeous braids in place.  This hairspray has a really fine mist so thankfully won’t cake your hair in product.  It’s also formulated with ingredients to improve the condition and gloss of your hair.  Also, if you’re looking for a soft flexible hold, they recommend spraying it onto a brush and brushing thorough your hair, so you really have the best of both worlds with this product.

Jelly Pong Pong – Paradise Pigments in Cake Pop

Now this is a fun product!  There are two colours available and I received Cake Pop which is a rather fluorescent pink.  It’s a multi use product and can be used on either your lips or cheeks.  Despite the rather overwhelming colour in the pot, it’s far more subtle on the skin, although if you’re looking for that pop of colour it is buildable.  A little goes a long way with this one as it’s super pigmented.  I like it most as a lip product because it’s very hydrating.  It’s a perfect summer product.

James Read – Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face

As a fake tan novice this was a perfect introductory product into the world of tanning.  The great thing about this is how simple it is, put in on before bed and by morning you have a natural, bronzed glow.  Also, the very clever formulation which dries colourless means there’s no risk of staining your pillow or sheets.  The light weight serum is infused with aloe vera, cucumber, hyaluronic acid and red algae to keep your skin nourished as well as tanned.

BrandAlley – Discount Code

As if all of that wasn’t enough there’s also the addition of a discount code for BrandAlley.  BrandAlley is an online store where you can shop the biggest names in fashion and home with up to 80% off.  You can enjoy £10 off when you spend £50 using code LUXELIST10.

Birchbox has done it again with some great products by some fantastic brands which cover skincare, haircare, tanning and makeup.  For me this month the highlight was the Laura Mercier Body Souffle which I’m sure I’ll use every last drop of.  I would best describe this as a “feel good” box as it can’t not raise a smile!

Our score: 9.0/ 10

Birchbox never fail to impress with their selection of well known, much loved and emerging brands. This was certainly the case with their June box selection. The Laura Mercier body soufflé was a real highlight but also getting to try Absolution for the first time opened my eyes to a fantastic new product line. I'm already looking forward to see what July's box has in store!
