Birchbox October 2015

1When I came home from work to find my Birchbox waiting for me, I was excited to see what was inside!

October’s box theme is ‘Back to Basics’, it’s all about discovering products that you can use every day to improve your daily routine.

Contents:

  • Eyeko – Fat Liquid Eyeliner in Black – £12
  • 2Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat – £9
  • Bioderma – Sensibio H20 – £10.20
  • Regenerate – Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste – £10
  • Beaver Professional – Hydro Nutritive Moisturising Shampoo – £11.50 (Birchbox exclusive)
  • Beaver Professional – Hydro Nutritive Moisturising Conditioner – £12 (Birchbox exclusive)

Eyeko – Fat Liquid Eyeliner in Black – £12
rfedvI cannot tell you how happy I was when I saw the fat liquid eyeliner! I’m always searching for an eyeliner that will actually last all day and won’t smudge on my top lid. As you can see, with this eyeliner you can easily draw thin to thick lines and even create designs. It dries very quickly and won’t budge when you rub it; it’s definitely not waterproof, but that only means it will be easy to clean!

The Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat – £9
5The dry fast top coat is a great addition to this box, however after reading the pamphlet it states that you should reapply the top coat after a few days to prolong your colour. I didn’t do this to begin with and my nail polish started to chip after the usual 4 days. I do love that you get a full bottle of the top coat nail polish though, however it’s really not worth spending £9 as you have to constantly reapply to keep your colour on your nails (wouldn’t that happen if you just reapplied your normal nail polish?).

Bioderma – Sensibio H20 – £10.20

The Birchbox pamphlet states this is a favourite 7amongst beauty editors and make-up artists alike. It explains how it gently cleanses with its micellar solution and removes your make-up and impurities. I tried it on waterproof mascara and it does take a while for your make-up to be removed, and if I’m honest it did make my skin feel weird and I was worried that it might flare up, but thankfully it didn’t. I think this might be better to use after you’ve removed your make-up, but it does make your skin feel a little strange. I don’t think it’s worth the £10.20 as it didn’t make my skin feel clean.

Regenerate – Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste – £106

This toothpaste has a minty-fresh formula that protects against cavities and boosts original whiteness. It says it works to reverse the early invisible signs of enamel erosion process. To be frank, as soon as I read ‘invisible signs’, it makes me question the quality of the product. Spending £10 on a toothpaste will make you want to see results. Now, it was a refreshing toothpaste, my teeth felt sparkling clean afterwards but I would not be able to justify spending £10 on a toothpaste for invisible results.

Beaver Professional – Hydro Nutritive Moisturising Shampoo – £11.50 & Beaver Professional – Hydro Nutritive Moisturising Conditioner – £12
8The Hydro Nutritive Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner seem to be amazing, especially if your hair was extremely dry. The shampoo was a lot thicker than I thought it would be and it makes your hair feel insanely soft once it has been washed out. It’s probably one of the best moisturising shampoos I have ever tried. The conditioner was great as well, but you need to rinse your hair a little longer to make sure that it has washed out completely.

All in all, this was a good box of every day essentials. The price of the actual items is quite steep so I doubt I’d go out and buy these, apart from the eyeliner or the moisturising shampoo and conditioner. In my opinion this box was not as strong as the others I’ve tried, but it was still a fantastic selection of beauty products for the October Birchbox!
