YumeTwins – Japanese Kawaii July 2018

YumeTwins is a monthly box of Japanese kawaii products from Tokyo. It is part of the TokyoTreat subscription box group which also includes TokyoTreat and nomakenolife. Each box contains 6 – 8 kawaii items including plushies and lifestyle goods plus premium anime brands.

They have one-, three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions costing $35.00, $33.50, $32.00, and $31.50 per month respectively. At current exchange rates this is £26.35, £25.22, £24.10, and £23.72. Shipping is free.

This month’s theme is Brunch Date.

There’s a list of all the items in the box, plus some other fun stuff.

This month’s featured item is a Kawaii Food Container and Hand Towel Set.

There were three possible varieties, but I got this lovely Totoro version. It consists of two microwaveable food containers, one small and one large, plus a hand towel/napkin.

You can protect your tabletop with this Rilakkuma Coaster. It’s one of five possible designs, and is made from nice thick cork.

This piece of fabric is an Adorable Pet Lunch Cloth. It’s very traditional in Japan to carry your lunch wrapped up in a cloth, and then it is used as a table mat as well. This is one of five different designs, all cat-related.

Here’s something to use with the lunch box set, a pair of Studio Ghibli Chopsticks. They go very nicely with the Totoro boxes!

Here’s a mini plushie, an Angel Panda Kawaii Plushie. There are several different designs, and each one has little wings and is holding a different gemstone. There’s also a hanging loop to attach to a bag or keychain.

Finally, some Gudetama Washi Tape. Washi tape has loads of uses, and this design is particularly cute.

Well, it makes a change not to have a large plushie in the box, but the bento lunch box set is splendid. All three of the designs are nice, but I definitely think Totoro is the best! It also goes very well with the chopsticks, coaster, and lunch cloth. The theme is very well thought out this month.

The other two items are smaller and not so much with the theme, though the tiny plushie is very cute, and of course I adore Gudetama, so anything with him on is fine with me!

This month’s box is really practical, with only one item that is just cute without being useful. I think this is great, as I love my practical items, and the Totoro box set is so very nice. It’s a bonus that you can put it in the microwave too!

YumeTwins items are generally extremely difficult to find outside Japan, so getting accurate prices is not really possible. Imported kawaii items are very expensive, so I have no doubt that this is excellent value, not to mention things you’re unlikely to see anywhere else!
