If I Knew You Were Coming is a baking subscription box, which ensures that you’ll always have something to quickly make and bake to share with any unexpected friends and family who might happen to pop over. I really like this idea as it’s nice to be able to serve something delicious and freshly baked to guests and their baking subscription boxes can be kept on hand in the cupboard for whenever the occasion may arise.
When you sign up, you can choose from a range of subscription options including Brownie Baking Kits, Muffin Baking Kits and Cookie Baking Kits so there’s something sweet for everyone’s tastes. The subscriptions are available in for 3, 6 or 12 months (prices start from £18), and you’ll receive one box every month.
If I Knew You Were Coming pride themselves on straightforward and easy baking, so you’ll receive the majority of the ingredients in the baking kit and will only have to find less than four ‘fresh’ ingredients to complete the recipe. Most of the fresh ingredients required are items that you’ll probably already have in your kitchen anyway!
I received one of their baking kits to make some Classic Chocolate Brownies which I was very happy with because brownies are my favourite things to bake!
I was pleased to see a full ingredients list for the baking mix included inside the lid, with clear boldings to help those who have food allergies.
Inside the letterbox friendly package, I received the following ingredients to make these Classic Chocolate Brownies:-
- Flour Mix
- Chocolate
- Chocolate Chips
- Sugar Mix
As you can see, everything has already been individually portioned and measured out for you and the bags are easy to open, so you all you need to do is the follow the instructions on the included recipe card and bake your brownies!
I found the recipe card very easy to follow and I only needed two ‘fresh ingredients’ which I already had in my fridge. These were two eggs and 115g butter. To make the brownies, it was simply a case of mainly mixing everything together, so as long as you have some basic kitchen products such as a mixing bowl, hand mixer, wooden spoon and a brownie tin (or similar square baking dish), you’ll be able to make them in about 5-10 minutes, with 10-15 minutes for baking them in the oven.
The results! These brownies weren’t as rich or gooey as the ones that I would make myself, but for a baking kit mix, I think they turned out really well and my nieces certainly enjoyed them! The addition of the chocolate chips definitely helped to create a more moreish brownie, and there was enough to make around 10-15 squares, depending on how big you wanted them to be. Yum!
