Degustabox – June 2018: BBQ

If you haven’t heard of Degustabox before, they are a food and drink subscription box that’s packed full of household favourite brands and new products from companies that have just started to pop up in the supermarket aisles. I always love the variety that Degustabox include in their boxes every month because there’s something for everyone and it’s exciting getting to try so many new and different products!

This month’s Degustabox is themed around BBQ, so let’s take a closer look at the contents:-

Capsicana Latin Flavour Cook Sauces in Cuban Chilli & Lime, and Brazillian Chilli & Coconut (£1.99 each)

June’s product of the month is Capsicana Latin Flavour Cook Sauces and you’ll receive two different flavours from their range in your box. I’m a huge fan of Mexican and Latin American food, so this brand is totally up my street! I received the Cook Sauces in Cuban Chilli & Lime which is made with Habanero Chillies, and Brazillian Chilli & Coconut, which has Frutescens Chillies in it.

Both of these sauces are on the hot and spicy side (just how I like them!) and they are packed full of flavour. Really easy to prepare, you just cook your meat/veggies etc and then add in the sauce for a couple of minutes – brilliant for a quick mid-week stir fry and each packet is enough for two people to enjoy.

Frylight Avocado Oil Cooking Spray (£2.99)

Frylight is a handy store cupboard product that I always seem to have in the house. At just one calorie per spray, it’s great for those who are watching their weight and it can be used in frying, baking and roasting. This one is blended with Avocado Oil which has a higher smoke point so it’s perfect for stir-fries.

No & More Raspberry & Blueberry Drink (£1.29)

I haven’t heard of this brand before, but I really enjoyed this fruit-infused Spring Water which contains no sugar, sweeteners, preservatives or artificial ingredients. The hints of Raspberry and Blueberry are nice and refreshing, so it’s lovely to enjoy ice cold on a hot Summer’s day like today.

Idahoan Gratin Bake (£2.30)

Usually, I prefer to make food like this from scratch but I was curious to try this out just to see what it was like. I made it yesterday as part of a BBQ and everyone loved it! It was very easy to prepare – you just tip out the contents into an ovenproof dish, add milk and butter and then bake for 30 minutes. It turned out quite crispy and had a good creamy texture to it. Definitely, something to have in the cupboard when you’re short on time or don’t have the ingredients at hand to make something like this from scratch.

Orangina Light and Orangina Original Drinks (£1.20 each)

You can’t beat a bottle of Orangina when it’s hot outside and you need a refreshing and fruity drink! I received a bottle of their classic Original flavour and a bottle of the Light version – both are ideal for drinking on their own or using as a mixer for your favourite Summer cocktails.

The Jelly Bean Factory Fairtrade Box (£1.25)

I haven’t eaten jelly beans in years so these were a welcome blast from the past! This box features 36 delicious gourmet flavours which are made using Fairtrade sugar. They’re gelatine, gluten and nut free, so lots of people can enjoy them when they have a sweet craving. Yum!

Peckish BBQ Rice Crackers Multi-Pack (£1.79)

Next up, I found a large multi-pack of Peckish BBQ Rice Crackers. This bag contains five individually sized out portions so they’re perfect for lunchboxes or stashing in your work drawer for when you need a snack to beat that afternoon slump. Each bag is under 100 calories as they’re baked not fried, but they still have a good crunch about them and I love the sweet and tangy barbeque flavour. Would definitely buy these again.

Brioche Pasquier Pains Au Lait (£1.75)

Make your weekend BBQ even more indulgent with these mini Brioche Pains au Lait. Free from preservatives, artificial flavours and hydrogenated fats, they are super soft and you can fill them with just about anything, making them a very versatile store cupboard staple. I’ve had these with some mac & cheese and veggie sausages recently and they were delicious.

Mighty Fine Salted Caramel Honeycomb Bar (£1)

Featuring the finest handcrafted honeycomb, this bar is made from all-natural ingredients here in England by Mighty Fine. It’s a new flavour which features light, crispy, and slightly salted honeycomb, covered in a creamy caramel Belgian Milk Chocolate. It tastes like heaven, is gluten free and is only 133 calories per bar!

Great British Biscotti Co (£1.30)

A good quality piece of Biscotti is the perfect accompaniment to your morning coffee and this one is one of the best that I’ve ever tasted. It’s a proper indulgent biscotti with White Chocolate, Cranberries and Pistachio for a flavourful experience. Baked twice, it has a classic, buttery and crumbly crunch and is made in the UK in Dorset. Delicious!

Fyre Fruit Drinks (£1.29 each)

How cool is the packaging for these Fyre Fruit Drinks?! Made with a blend of all natural sparkling water, they are infused with a range of fruits and spices for a truly unique and different drink to enjoy on the go. I received two flavours; Blueberry, Blackcurrant, Peppers and Chilli, and Lemon and Ginger. I certainly preferred the latter, but the Blueberry one has started to grow on me.

Rosie’s Pig Raspberry Roller Cider (£2)

If you have signed up to the alcoholic Degustabox, you’ll receive a can of Weston’s Rosie’s Pig Raspberry Roller Cider instead of the Fyre Fruit Drinks above. This sparkling cloudy cider is flavoured with Raspberry Juice and Cucumber, for a wonderfully refreshing drink to go with your BBQ. Best served ice cold!
