January’s box takes its subscribers to the new world with some really interesting products that have been expertly sourced from South America. It’s a cool theme and a great way to start off the new year with a range of exciting treats!

La Republica Amazonica Gin (70cl, 42% ABV)

This month’s featured gin comes all the way from Bolivia and has been specially imported into the UK for Craft Gin Club members to discover. This beautiful handcrafted gin embodies the true spirit of the rainforest with some incredible Amazonian botanicals that are blended with ones which are better known to fellow gin lovers. In this Bolivian gin, you’ll find Juniper, Coriander, Cardamom, Orange, Lemon, Anise, Cinnamon, Ginger, Acai, Copoazu, Aji Gusano, Cacao, Chuchuhuasi Bark, Canelon Bark, Palo Santo and Sacha Culantro.

Tasting this gin was a lovely experience as I had no idea what to expect. It has a strong aroma of woody herbs with a zest of orange and lime, yet on the palate, it’s rich in fresh herbs with a strong Juniper flavour. The exotic spices add warmth and depth which is welcoming in a G&T and it has a really crispy and clean taste – I love it!

Mixers: 1724 Tonic Waters and Simply Passion Fruit Syrup

For mixers this month, there are two bottles of 1725 Tonic Waters which feature Quinine that is collected in Peru alongside the famous Inca Trail, so they fit very well with the overall theme of the box and are fantastic premium tonic waters that I would happily purchase again.

If you fancy a more fruity twist to your usual G&T, you can try the Simply Passion Fruit Syrup to make some exciting fruity cocktails – a great way to beat the Winter blues!

Extra Treats: Purely Wild Garlic Plantain Chips, Willie’s Cacao Milk Of The Gods Chocolate and T&E No.1 Botanical Beverage

Craft Gin Club always include an impressive selection of extra treats with each month’s box and this month’s offerings are amazing! There’s a bag of Purely Wild Garlic Plantain Chips which are inspired by Ecuador and these really do pack a punch in the garlic flavour department as they’re very strong and tasty. For something sweeter, there’s the exceptional Willie’s Cacao and his bestselling Milk Of The Gods Chocolate which features cocoa beans sourced from Venezuela, and this is such a delicious milk chocolate experience.

Lastly, there’s a bottle of T&E No.1 Botanical Beverage – a revitalising and refreshing soft drink that has notes of green fruits and plenty of aromatic botanicals to liven up your taste buds.

Our score: 10.0/ 10
