Boxcitement – October 2020: Practically magic (and practically perfect too!)

With the nights drawing in and things getting spookier by the day I was really looking forward to seeing how the team at Boxcitement would handle this theme. They always have a knack of getting it just right without being too stereotypical and this month was no exception!

What’s in the box?

  • A wooden charm necklace on a silver chain
  • Magical soothing bath salts
  • A set of beeswax candles and decorative pebbles
  • Some sticky labels for treats (and tricks!)
  • Pumpkin themed notecard and envelope
  • Spooky themed stationery and planner set
  • Set of two witchy coasters.

The long and the short of it

I absolutely love this necklace. It has a touch of the occult about it but its still subtle enough to not upset your mum! The only issue I have with mine is that the chain is super short. I do tend to like to wear my necklaces a bit longer, so I always tend to get a bit nervous if I see a necklace included. Usually Boxcitement gets it just right but this one I could barely even do up so I have had to mark the score down ever so slightly. However I have been able to remove the charm from the chain and wear it on a longer one so all is well!

These coasters are probably me favourite items from the box this month. They are really well made and good quality. I have been using them with my Halloween themed mugs (!) for my morning brew and they always bring a smile to my face.

You can never have too many pumpkins

At the last count we had 14 pumpkin themed items in our lounge and kitchen so this cute notecard obviously went down well too. I am not sure who we will send this to and in fact I think there is every chance we might frame it!

I love the bright colours and geometric shapes of these great little stickers. They are a different take on the usual ‘spooky labels’ and definitely brought a smile to my face.

Healing powers

Another welcome and unusual addition was this set of candles. They come with some pebbles so that you can arrange them in a small glass. The candles themselves have a delicious natural honey scent which I am normally not a fan of at all but these smell really nice. I think I’ll wait until after Halloween to burn these and enjoy the smell wafting through the house.

Speaking of wafting around the house, I definitely think I’ll be doing that after having a bath in these lovely bath salts. I love the packaging and the addition of the sparkly card too is really fun. A lovely treat when it is getting colder. The days when a lovely hot bath seems much more attractive than a quick refreshing dip in the shower!

Last but not least is this cute little planner and notelet set. I have been feeling particularly witchy this last week so I have been enjoying writing a few spells of my own (also shopping lists). These notecards are the perfect size and I love the bright colours. It would have been easy to have fallen into the orange/purple/green colour combo that you so often see this time of year. I really like how these, and other items in the box, have moved away from that and into something different that really stands out.

Our score: 9.8/ 10

I adore Halloween and so I was excited to see how Boxcitement would handle this spooktacular month in their latest box. I am only being very picky by marking down one point for the necklace being particularly short - overall it was a wonderful take on the season and a brilliant box.
