Boxcitement – October 2018: Bootastic box of brilliance

We LOVE Halloween in our house so when I found out there was a definite spooky theme to the October Boxcitement box I was pretty excited. I definitely wasn’t disappointed when the box arrived at the weekend.

What’s in the box?

  • A spooky woodland print with mini hanging pegs and thread
  • A Boo-teautiful notebook
  • A set of sweet-themed sticky labels
  • A mini candelabra style collapsible tea light holder and peach scented tea light
  • A set of two friendly ghost pins
  • A Day of the Dead paperweight
  • A silver bracelet with an agate stone, believed to drive away evil spirits
  • A lucky black cat note card and envelope

The highlights

I absolutely adore this set of two mini ghosts. I have worn them every day since I received them and have had a lot of people asking me where they are from. It’s hard to tell from the photo but they are about the same size as a 20p coin. I think you’d pay at least £5-£6 if you were buying these so this months box is looking like a right bargain!

Flat-pack candelabra

It’s also quite hard to tell from this photo but this mini candle holder and tea light can be collapsed so it lies flat. I used to travel a bit for work before I had my son and I would have loved to take this with me just to have a nice little touch of home when I was staying over in a cheap identikit hotel. The tealight that comes with this has a lovely subtle hint of peach and mango and I love the festive orange colour too.

So tactile

This paperweight is so stunning. It is incredibly smooth and very tactile and already has pride of place on my desk/dressing table. It’s hard to imagine paying less than £8 for something like this if you were to find one in the shops which is almost half the price of the box on it’s own.

A bracelet a day keeps the spirits away

I also really loved the silver bracelet that came in this box and the story behind it. The agate drop charm was thought to ward off evil spirits; not only that, but its really pretty too. I plan to wear this out trick or treating this week! What was lovely to see was that it’s a good size. I have quite large wrists and often find bracelets like this can be a little restrictive but this wasn’t at all. It was easily adjustable and really comfortable to wear.

Spooky print

This print was also a lovely addition – I’m yet to hang it up but I adore how it is both autumnal but also a bit festive too. In fact the wallpaper we were going to have in our living room was not dissimilar to this so I think it will be added to our little lounge gallery once we’ve worked out where everything is going to go! You could easily spend at least £5 buying something like this so it was another great find.

Our score: 10.0/ 10

I honestly couldn't find a fault with this month's box. I absolutely loved the take on Halloween, and everything was of a really good quality. Just pricing up 2-3 of the items comes to more than the total price of the box so it was a real bargain. One of my favourite things about Boxcitement is seeing how they can bring in a unique and quirky gift that will fit through our letterbox, so far they've made a great sloth earring holder and a brilliant cactus ring holder so the mini tea light candelabra in this box was another triumph. I loved everything so couldn't pick a favourite, hence the perfect 10/10 review score. Well done team Boxcitement!
