Boxcitement – August 2019: What lies beneath

The latest Boxcitement subscription box has a distinct watery feel to it, and I have to confess it might be my favourite one yet.

What’s in the box?

  • Sea creature walnut pendant on a gold plated chain
  • ‘Under the surface’ surface protector
  • Mermaid tail make up brush and pouch
  • Silver seahorse pin
  • Sea creature greetings cards
  • Two fishy paper clips
  • Box of mini mints for that ‘just been for a swim’ freshness

The highlights

I absolutely adore the surface protector. It’s a really unusual item to find in a subscription box; and its perfect for our kitchen colour scheme. I’m absolutely awful for just cutting stuff on the worktop so I feel a little bit like someone has been watching me and tailored this exactly to me. Something like that is rare to find in a subscription box.

The next item that really brings me joy is this make up brush. Not only is it adorable, it’s also really nice quality. It was a nice surprise as its a bit different to some of the more regular types of items you find in Boxcitement Boxes and I love it.

The silver seahorse pin is also a lovely addition. I’ve been using mine as a bit of a ‘modesty’ pin to clip dresses together if they are a bit too low cut. The design is subtle enough to get away with this, but also cute enough to be a bit of a talking point too.

I think my favourite item has got to be the necklace. My box arrived whilst I was away on holiday which i was a bit gutted about as I would have loved to have worn it then! I’ve popped it on a few times since we got back and its been getting tons of compliments

I also loved the sea creature note cards. I love the monochrome design and the artwork is so delicate and intricate. They’re a real work of art. Speaking of which the fishy clips also brought a smile to my face too!

Our score: 10.0/ 10

It's a 10/10 clean sweep this month for the 'What lies beneath' box. Every item was of a high quality and the range was interesting and unusual. This has been my favourite box so far and I'd definitely recommend Boxcitement; as either a gift for someone else, or quite frankly a gift that is all for you!
