The Vegan Kind – August 2018

The Vegan Kind is a monthly vegan-friendly food & lifestyle subscription box. Not only is it an affordable and fun way to try out a bunch of new vegan products every month, but it’s also a brilliant introduction for those who are new to veganism, or are currently a flexitarian/vegetarian and want to seek out some more vegan-friendly alternatives. There is so much choice out there nowadays that it’s even easier than ever before to live a cruelty-free life!

This month’s The Vegan Kind arrived a couple of days ago and it includes some amazing products.

Cheeky Monkey Peanut Butter Chilli Pepper Puffs (RRP £1.99)

I never thought that Peanut Butter and Chilli Pepper would work so well together (although they are common flavours in a lot of Asian cooking), but these crunchy puffs are really good! They’re a little on the dry side which prevents you from eating the whole bag in one sitting (probably a positive thing), but that nutty, slightly spicy flavour is very moreish. They’re organic, gluten-free and of course, vegan-friendly.

Sweetpea Pantry Playful Pizza Dough Mix (RRP £2.75)

I thought that the box felt heavier than usual and this is the reason why! Made with healthy ingredients such as Wholemeal Flour, Chia, Flax and Oregano, this easy to use pizza dough mix just requires you to add some oil and water to whip you a tasty pizza base in no time at all. I’m very excited to try this out!

Mighty Bee Bananaito Dark Chocolate Dipped Solar Dried Banana Bar (RRP £0.89)

Introducing the UK’s very first snack bar that features solar-dried bananas, this tasty pack of goodness from Mighty Bee is generously coated in Belgian Dark Chocolate and contains a chewy and delicious banana-tastic centre. High in fibre and counting as one of your five a day, this feels like a really indulgent snack but it’s actually very healthy.

Popaball Strawberry Shimmer Bubbles (RRP £4.99)

How cool are these? This pack contains Strawberry Shimmer Bubbles from Popaball which add fruity flavour and sparkle to your favourite Summer drinks. They burst in your mouth and add a little something special to liven up cocktails! I’m pleased to come across something like this which is vegan because I’ve seen similar products that contain gelatine, so it’s great to know that there’s a cruelty-free alternative out there.

Tideford White Miso 1-Min Miso Cup (RRP £1.99)

I’m a huge fan of Tideford’s organic soups and as I love miso too, I knew I was going to like this. At only 39 calories, this 1-Min Miso Cup is a deliciously refreshing hot drink to enjoy at any time of the day and is ideal to take with you on camping trips or even to the office.

Jealous Sweets Pineapple & Grapefruit Love Bears (RRP £1.49)

Proving that you don’t have to miss out on your favourite sweets if you go vegan, these fruity gummy bears from Jealous Sweets are a brilliant cruelty-free version of the popular Haribo kids classic! They’re also sugar-free and gluten-free, plus they don’t contain any artificial colours, flavours or palm oil. Needless to say this bag did not last long!

The Humble Co Natural Charcoal Toothpaste (RRP £3.99)

Next up, there’s a Natural Charcoal Toothpaste from The Humble Co. Charcoal is well known as a useful detoxifying ingredient and it also helps to whiten and polish your teeth, as well as getting rid of plaque. This toothpaste has a lovely minty fresh flavour too. I also love that The Humble Co provide essential oral care to children in need, so by purchasing their products, you’ll be helping out kids around the world who can’t afford and don’t have access to basics like toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Dr Will’s BBQ Sauce (full size retails for £3.49)

Lastly, there’s a sachet sample of Dr Will’s BBQ Sauce which is an all-natural and moreish BBQ sauce that doesn’t contain anything artificial – no additives, preservatives or artificial flavours. It’s also healthier overall as it’s sweetened with Dates instead of sugar, so it contains at least 50% less sugar than mainstream BBQ sauces. Yum!

At the bottom of the box I found this month’s recipe card which shows you how to make the most out of the pizza dough mix above, with some tasty topping suggestions. I think I’m going to need to try and make this next week!

Our score: 9.8/ 10

Another great box from The Vegan Kind! I loved the variety and there are some really interesting and innovative products included. Well done TVK!
