Vegan Cuts Beauty Box – June 2016

June’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box arrived the other day all the way from the USA, and like many of the beauty boxes out at the moment, it’s themed around summer essentials. This month sees a good mix of products and brands, all of which are guaranteed to be cruelty-free and suitable for vegans (no animal ingredients or animal derived by-products etc).

Let’s take a closer look at what you’ll find inside:-

As always, there’s a handy menu card detailing all of the products in the box, along with their RRP values. You can also use the code JUNEBEAUTY to get $10 off at vegancuts.com/beauty – who doesn’t love a cheeky discount code?!

(1) OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach (full size, RRP $19.90)

The first product that I pulled out was this gorgeous liquid lipstick from the American beauty brand, OFRA. Everyone got the same shade this time around which is ‘Laguna Beach’ – a pretty everyday muted pink that I imagine will suit a range of skin tones. Liquid lipsticks are everywhere right now and the formula of this one didn’t disappoint – it definitely lives up to its long-lasting name, is highly pigmented, applies smoothly and doesn’t feel drying on the lips (a big bonus!).

(2) Mai Couture Vitamin C & E Revitalise Oil Blotting Paper (full size, 100 sheets, RRP $12)

If you have oily skin like me, you’ll no doubt already carry a pack of blotting papers or a translucent powder compact in your handbag. These are great for touch ups when you’re out and about as they’re very easy and effective use. Simply tear out a sheet, press onto your t-zone or oily area, and hey presto – shine be gone! I’ve used these Mai Couture ones before and they’re really good at getting the job done.

(3) Clarisea Sea Salt Solutions Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant for the Face (travel size tub, RRP $3)

The third product that I came across was a travel size tub of Clarisea Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant which is a 100% facial exfoliant composed of just Sea Salt, Mineral Salt, Sweet Almond Nut Powder and Activated Bamboo Charcoal Powder. Charcoal has been used for centuries by many people as it’s well known for its powerful detoxing properties. This facial scrub is in its purest form, so to use it, you need to add a small amount to your favourite cleanser, and it will gently buff away dead skin cells and help to remove impurities and clogged pores. I’ve tried it twice so far and I’m still surprised by how little I need to use each time – this tub will last ages!

(4) Puresol Konjac Facial Sponge in Bamboo Charcoal (full size, RRP $10)

Keeping with the bamboo charcoal / detoxing theme, here we have a 100% natural Konjac Sponge that’s infused with Bamboo Charcoal to deeply cleanse the skin. I’m a big fan of these Konjac sponges because they’re gentle to use so great for sensitive skin, and they really do give you a deep cleanse. You can use it on its own or with your favourite cleanser for an added boost.

(5) Glow For A Cause Solid Perfume in Wish (full size, RRP $18)

This is a special edition beeswax-free solid perfume that has a light floral fragrance of White Tea and Bergamot – summery and sophisticated. I haven’t tried many solid perfumes, but I like that this one’s textured like a soft balm so it’s easy to apply. Dab onto your wrists and pulse points for a subtle floral scent to keep you smelling fresh this summer.

(6) Devita Mineral SPF 30 Sunscreen (15ml travel size, RRP $5)

The final sixth product in the box is a travel size tube of Devita’s mineral SPF 30 sunscreen. I’m always happy to find sunscreen in my summer beauty boxes because I’m quite religious about applying it, so it’s one of those products that I always get through easily. This one’s mineral based so it absorbs and works quickly as a protective shield against harmful sun rays straight away (as opposed to chemical based ones that need about 30 minutes to adhere properly to your skin). Great size to pop into your handbag so you can keep yourself protected throughout the day – you’ll thank me later when you don’t have premature wrinkles!

Another great box from Vegan Cuts Beauty, which again shows great value for money and a good mix of different products. Unfortunately for UK customers, you may have to pay  an additional customs charge to receive it now due to recent changes implemented by HMRC, but if you don’t mind or simply want to try products that you can’t usually find over here, it’s a good box to pick up.

Our score: 8.0/ 10

Great value for money and a good mix of US brands that aren't readily available in the UK with all the products being guaranteed vegan and cruelty free.
