Glossybox – May 2017

This month’s Glossybox has landed on my doorstep, and its contents are themed around ‘basic essentials‘ that you may use regularly in your beauty routines at home. I think a lot of the other beauty boxes can sometimes miss the importance of including products that women may often use, in favour of focusing on the latest ‘must-have’ beauty products instead. However, as a beauty blogger, let me tell you that ‘must-haves’ can often fall into the realm of unused gimmicks, so it’s nice to receive a box of beauty products that you may actually use, instead of squirrelling them away in that forgotten drawer that we all seem to have!

As always, Glossybox arrived in perfect condition in its now-iconic pink box with its cool logo branding. Inside May’s Glossybox, I found five beauty products, three of which were full size, and two that are generous sample sizes:-Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub (100g sample bag)

I love using body scrubs, and I particularly use them a lot during the summer months when I’ve got a bit more skin on show. They’re also fantastic for prepping the body for fake tan and I’ve really been enjoying using this one from Scrub Love. It’s a Charcoal based body scrub that’s infused with Avocado Oil, French Green Clay, Aloe Vera Juice and Eucalyptus Oil, for a seriously deeply refreshing and detoxing scrub!  As well as being 100% natural, it’s also cruelty-free, free from parabens and plastic microbeads and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It’s quite messy to use (you’ll definitely need to give your bath or shower a proper rinse out afterwards!), but it’s fun too and it does an excellent job of exfoliating my skin.Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (10ml travel size)

I’m a big fan of the popular French skincare brand Caudalie, and I’m actually already using a full-size tube of this moisturising sorbet! It’s an amazing lightweight moisturiser that has a wonderful gel/cream texture to it, so it absorbs quickly but feels really hydrating at the same time. It’s formulated with lots of anti-oxidants and polyphenols to help calm down sensitive and reactive skin, making it ideal for anyone who finds it difficult to find a face moisturiser that suits them. This travel size will be going straight into my holiday bag -thanks Glossybox! Dr. Paw Paw Original Balm (full size, RRP £6.95)

Lip balm is something that I use absolutely every day out of habit and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this one from Dr. Paw Paw. The Original Balm is more than a lip balm though as it’s a fragrance-free, multi-purpose balm that you can apply to any dry areas such as lips, cuticles, nails etc. You can also use it to tame unruly eyebrows and flyaway hairs too. A useful everyday basic beauty product to have in your handbag.Ruby Powder Blush in Coral (full size, RRP £14.99)

I haven’t heard of this brand Ruby before, but I love trying out new makeup products and this coral blusher is such a beautiful shade! Perfect for summer, it feels silky soft and blends easily for an instant shot of colour to the cheeks. Coral blushes are great for making you look younger and more awake, and I always find that they lift and brighten up the whole face, no matter how tired you’re actually feeling, so they’re a good ‘cheat’ product to reach for the morning after a late night!Girl Meets Brush Eye Shadow Blending Brush (full size, RRP £7.95)

The fifth and final product in this month’s Glossybox is an eyeshadow brush from the brand, Girl Meets Brush. It’s a nice shape for applying base eyeshadows with all over the lid, and the slightly domed bristles are lovely and soft for blending into the crease as well. A great addition to my growing makeup brush collection!

Our score: 8.4/ 10

I loved the 'basic essentials' theme for this month's Glossybox as I know that I'll use all of the products that they've included. My new favourite item is the Scrub Love Body Scrub, and I'm so pleased that I've got a travel-size tube of the amazing Caudalie Moisturising Sorbet for my holiday bag.
