Craft Gin Club – June 2018

There are a lot of Gin based subscription boxes which have appeared on the market due to the popularity of this amazing spirit (it’s definitely my favourite tipple!), but the most well known in the UK is Craft Gin Club.

As a subscriber, you’ll receive the following every month:-

  • A full-size bottle of artisan/craft Gin
  • Exciting mixers including premium tonic waters
  • Sweet & savoury foodie treats
  • GINNED! club magazine
  • Free delivery in the UK

It’s the full-size bottle of Gin that always gets me the most excited (I mean, it’s a FULL-SIZE bottle, what’s not to love about that?!), and the extras are always fantastic too.

This month’s Craft Gin Club arrived last week and I’ve been enjoying trying everything out over the weekend. Here’s what’s inside:-

Vidda Torr Gin (700ml, 43% vol)

June’s featured Gin of the month comes all the way from Norway and is called Vidda Torr. Distilled in Oslo and established fairly recently in 2015, Vida Torr is an exceptional craft gin with a wonderfully clean and crisp taste that’s reminiscent of the wild forests and mountains of Norway. Containing a range of natural botanicals such as Juniper, Heather, Yarrow, Chamomile Flower, Bilberry, Angelica Root, Meadowsweet, Sorrel, Calamus Root, Elderflower and Pine Shoot, this really is an incredibly pure tasting Gin.

As perhaps expected, the Juniper is the strongest botanical on the palate, and this is matched with a lovely woody fresh and earthy sweetness, which is a little bit herbal and a little bit peppery. Scent-wise, it’s very fragrant of pine, and this Gin works well with any type of premium tonic and especially a slice of fresh Lime to bring out all of those botanical notes. I don’t have anything like this in my current Gin collection!

Purdey’s Rejuvenate Multivitamin Fruit Drink + Franklin & Sons Natural Indian Tonic Water + Bottlegreen Rhubarb with a Hint of Ginger Cordial

For mixers this month, there are three included in the box. The Purdey’s Rejuvenate is brilliant for a more fruity cocktail, and I’m already a big fan of the Franklin & Sons Tonic Waters so I was pleased to see a bottle from them. The mini bottle of Bottlegreen Rhubarb & Ginger Cordial was a nice surprise though as a drop or two mixed into a classic G&T gives it a delicious Summery twist.

Arden’s Lockerbie Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Chutney Bites + Coco Chocolatier Gin & Tonic Dark Chocolate

For nibbles, there’s a scrumptious box of Arden’s Lockerbie Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Chutney Bites (these are really something special – they’re round, buttery biscuits with a moreish Cheddar & Onion flavour), and an incredible bar of Gin & Tonic flavoured Dark Chocolate from Coco Chocolatier which is the most amazing thing ever!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this month’s Craft Gin Club and as always, I’ve been impressed with their featured Gin – who knew Norway made such fantastic Gin?!

Our score: 10.0/ 10

Another outstanding box from Craft Gin Club - I highly recommend trying the Vidda Torr Gin!
