I’m not going to lie – Cheese Posties are one of my favourite foodie treats/subscription boxes to receive every month. They send you a deconstructed gourmet cheese toastie straight to your home or workplace and the flavour combinations that they come up with are out of this world! So far, I’ve had the pleasure of trying Peanut Butter Jelly, Blueberry Smoothie and Trois Couleurs and you can check out all of those reviews here. I don’t know how they manage to come up with so many different options, but they all contain a range of high-quality ingredients and of course, plenty of cheese!
Subscription prices to Cheese Posties start from £4.66 and you can decide how often you’d like a tasty luxury cheese toastie delivered to you. You can also fill in a short questionnaire when you sign up, specifying any food preferences such as certain ingredients that you don’t like etc, and they’ll make sure that you won’t receive these. The flavour that you’ll receive is always a surprise though, but you can choose whether you want to receive savoury, sweet or a bit of both. I’ve signed up for the latter and also the vegetarian option, and it’s been a delicious journey so far!
For this month’s Cheese Postie, I received the Veggie Lasagne flavour which comes with not one, but two different types of cheese, oh yes! As a lasagne lover, I was curious to see how this was going to turn out.
The Cheese Postie arrives in a long letterbox friendly package, made of sturdy cardboard. All of the ingredients are housed in separate compartments to keep everything nice and tidy during transit, and they’re delivered by 1st class Royal Mail to ensure that it gets to you as fresh as possible. With your first Cheese Postie, you’ll also receive a free reusable toasting bag, and then another one every three boxes.
For the Veggie Lasagne cheese toastie, I received the following ingredients:-
- Two slices of White Bread
- Two mini packs of Kerrygold Butter
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Cream Cheese
- Tomato Sauce
Now let’s assemble this cheese toastie!
I spread the Cream Cheese on each slice of bread first, and then added the Tomato Sauce on top. I then sprinkled over the grated Mozzarella Cheese, and as you can see, the portion sizes for each ingredient are very generous! Folding it together, I added a bit of butter to the outside and then popped it into the frying pan to ‘toast’. You can, of course, use a toasting bag in your toaster instead if you’d prefer, but I find that the pan method allows everything to really melt and fuse together much better, as well as adding a lovely golden colour to the bread.
The final result!
As I expected, the Mozzarella cheese melted beautifully to give you that ultra-satisfying cheesy stretch action when you bite into it. The bread was excellent quality as always and held everything together well, and the addition of the Cream cheese with the Tomato Sauce provided that interesting Lasagne style flavour. Totally delicious! This was a really filling cheese toastie – I had it for my breakfast and it kept my hunger at bay until well into the afternoon!
