Birchbox : July 2015 review

I’ve had a few months worth of Birchbox at this point and there are a few reasons that I’ve stayed with them:
1. Quality of the products – some of the items included are too expensive to realistically buy regularly, but they are fantastic as luxurious treats and there are never any nasty surprises because of this.
2. Little extras – they include 5 products and some sort of little extra. This is a nice touch, and it doesn’t bother me if the little extra doesn’t appeal as it’s not one of the main items.
3. The loyalty points scheme – this is an amazing scheme. You earn points for each box purchased and for reviewing the items inside. 100 points equals £10 to spend in their store. You can earn 20-30 points per box so they add up quickly. You also get a massive 50 points for every friend you refer.
4. The price – at £10 per box plus p&p, this is easily one of the most affordable boxes on the market. You can even get a discount if you purchase subscriptions a few months at a time.

DSC01203Okay, so July’s box was actually a bag, and it shipped out early which was an added bonus. I liked the bag, it fit through my letterbox and I got a pink ‘Ibiza’ one which was apparently the most sought after!
The products inside were:
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum – I love Balance Me so this was an excellent find in this bag! Their products are natural and leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed and this product was no different.
Unani Aloe Vera Gel – This was quite nice. It absorbed quickly into my skin. I think it would come in handy on holiday after a bit too much sun!
Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen – Who doesn’t love Benefit? This seemed like a very good quality sunscreen but on the down side the sample size was tiny.
DSC01207Soigné Nail Laquer in Lavande – The pale lilac colour was gorgeous and this is the full sized sample in this month’s bag. I’m fussy about nail polish but I did really like this one.
POP Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait – This had to be my favourite item in the bag. The size is perfect for your handbag, the colours are great for a bronzed summer look, and the shadows are silky textured too.
Spa to You Nail File (Bonus Beauty Extra) – I’m not much of a nail file user but I gave this a try and it did the job. It was a nice little extra in the bag.
The bag came with the usual leaflet explaining the items. There were also two exclusive offers at the back; if you refer a friend for a limited time you both get sent a Stella & Dot bracelet worth £19, and £10 off for subscribers spending £30 in the Birchbox store. There was also a competition to win a dream holiday wardrobe worth £500 from Lily & Lionel. Not bad at all!
DSC01204Overall I was really pleased with this month’s offerings. I got a few awesome additions to my make-up collection and there was nothing in the bag that I really didn’t like. My only small quibble would be the size of the Benefit sample. This was a very well thought out bag for the summer holiday season.
